A Race Against Death

It was a cold January in 1925 in Nome Alaska. The town was cut off from the rest of the world due to heavy snow.

否定couldn`t have done,不能表虚拟，但可以表否定推断=can`t have done

也就是说，表虚拟时，could have done,不能换词为can; 但表推测时，可以换词为can

前有do后无to的用法。具体参考如下：

在nothing but句型中,有do无to是指nothing 前有do的任何形式出现,but后的动词前
