人工智能研究的不同途径反映了人工智能研究的观点与方法,它有力地促进人工智能这门新兴学科的不断发展。

    从一般观点来看,人工智能的研究途径有以下三大派。

    1.符号主义(Symbolicism )

    这是以符号处理为核心,以数学逻辑为基础的人工智能主流派,是计算机模拟人类智能的必然产物。它的代表人物是CMU的纽厄尔、西蒙及斯坦福研究所的尼尔逊(Nilsson)。其指导思想是,人工智能的研究目标既然是实现机器智能,那么计算机本身就具有符号处理的推算能力,因而可以通过符号程序设计来实现某种基于逻辑思维的智能行为,达到模拟人类智能活动的效果,其代表性成果就是前面提及的“逻辑理论家”和通用求解程序GPS
