SC: Where did you stay and work during your working holiday?

CL：I got a house in Vancouver, and I'm working as an assistant to a Chinese medicine doctor.

VL： I stayed wherever I could. Sometime I stayed in hostels. Other times I shared a house or stayed in a cabin or camped. Sometimes I slept in my car --especially when I was moving between cities. I worked at different jobs as I traveled.

空英：在打工度假期间，你们住在哪里？在哪里工作？

坤琦：我在温哥华找到房子，目前担任一位中医师的助理。

柏庆;哪里有得住我就住哪。有时我会在青年旅社落脚有时会与人共住，或住小木屋、搭帐篷露营，有时还会在车里过夜--尤其是在不同城市间往返的时候。在旅途中我做过各种不同的工作。

SC: What was the biggest challenger you faced?

CL: I wondered about a lot of things before I left. I got a lot of assistance from my friends at church, though, so since arriving in Canada, I haven't really run into any huge obstacles.

VL： Taking to Westerners in English was challenging. They speak English faster than I can comprehend it. I had to learn to pay close attention.

空英：你们所面临的最大挑战是什么？

坤琦：我在出发前对很多事情都感到疑惑，不过教会的朋友给我许多帮助，所以自从我抵达加拿大起，并没有碰上任何重大的阻滞。

柏庆：用硬物和西方人交谈对我来说是一大挑战。我的理解力不太跟得上他们说英语的速度，我必须学着专心聆听。

SC；What was the most important lesson you learned?

CL: I spend a lot of time alone here, so I'm learning to really appreciate who I am.

VL: My working holiday taught me that the world is a big place with limitless possibilities. I learned to love meeting new people.

 空英：你们所学到最重要的一课时什么？

坤琦：我在这里花了很多时间独处，所以正在学习真正欣赏自己。

柏庆：我的打工假期让我了解到，这世界是一个浩瀚、拥有无限可能性的所在。我开始喜欢去认识新朋友。

SC: Would you do it again?

CL: For me, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

VL: Definitely. Since my working holiday, I've never really stopped traveling.

今天的课文里提到一个问题：“Where did you stay and work during your working holiday?"在打工度假期间你们住哪里？注意这里他没有用“live”.live 跟stay的差别是：live是指长期的居住、定居，而stay是短期的停留。

你可以问外地来造访的朋友：“How long are you staying Taipei?”(你在台北要待多久？）若是他回答“I'm here to stay.”意思是我要定居在这里，这是stay的另外一个意思，就是“停留不走，固定下来”。一样东西也可以 be here to stay.若是说“The new cell phone is here to stay”新型的手机被普遍地接受，在市场上已站稳脚，而且会继续存在下去。

注意 这两个句子：I'm here to stay and I'm staying here 的不同。一般情况要根据上下文的意思来理解。如果就单独的句子来说，这两句话在意义上有很大的不同：

"I'm staying here" could mean

• I'm staying in this place (this is where I'm sleeping tonight)
• I'm staying right here (I'm not going anywhere)

"I'm here to stay" suggests something more permanent
as in "I'm here to stay. There's no getting rid of me. You're stuck with me."
