During several days in Mexico city, one day was for Teotihuacan, temple of the sun and the luna. This is the first temple I ever visited in Mexico, and also the first act of my future visits on temples in various styles in the Yucatan peninsula. From Maya to Inca, to almost all races in the world, sun and moon were adored as gods. Teotihuacan was the most important worship place in the capital of Aztec empire when the Mexico city was called Tenochtitlan. But the history of Teotihuacan is much longer than that of Aztec empire. One thousand years before it became the worship center of Aztec empire, a city here reached the peak of its glory and then collapsed into the dust of history.

It is more clearly to feel
Teotihuacan’s brilliant past in the museo de antropologia, Mexico
city. A well preserved pyramid was moved to the museum, which the
Aztecs decorated with wall paintings and stone carvings. The
skeleton of the sacrifice would be certainly found beneath the
pyramids. The obvious characteristics on the skeleton mean that all
of them were killed for the worship: their hands were bound on the
back and a necklace made with human mandibles on their neck. ……All
stories reached an end on the year 1519, the temple even astonished
the spanish conquerors. No more worship in Teotihuacan, and
Tenochtitlan, one of the biggest city even existed on this planet,
little by little, were buried under another big city,

My itinerary for the visit is the temple of the sun, museum, ruins of building and smaller pyramids and finally the temple of the moon. The temple of the feathered serpent was in reconstruction, so I didn’t go there. And I bought a straw hat at the main gate, which makes sometimes look like a peasant woman, sometimes like a cowgirl. On the way back to Mexico city, at a check point, all male passengers had to get off for a check, and the inspectors checked each part of the bus, even the chair cover, which reminded me the drug crimes in Mexico.
We cooked our supper at the
hostel with the materials bought in supermarket. Yolanda got
