When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old woman. She was
sitting in the park, just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down
next to her and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink
from his root beer when he noticed that the old lady looked hungry,
so he offered her some chips. She gratefully accepted it and smiled
at him.
走过3个街区,他遇到一位老妇人,正坐在公园,望着那里的鸽子.男孩坐到她身旁,打开旅行箱.正当他取饮料时,发现老妇人看起来很饿的样子,他分给她一些土豆片.妇人欣然接受并报以微笑.
Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he
offered her a root beer. Again, she smiled at him. The boy was
delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but
they never said a word.
那微笑如此的美丽,男孩希望再看到,所以给了老妇人一瓶喝的.她再一次,微笑了.
男孩欣喜.整个下午他们坐在那里分享食物与微笑,但却没有交谈.
As
twilight approached, the boy realized how tired he was and he got
up to leave; but before he had gone more than a few steps, he
turned around, ran back to the old woman, and gave her a hug. She
gave him her biggest smile ever.
黄昏降临,男孩发现他已经很累了,起身告辞.
走了几步,他返回来,给了妇人一个大大的拥抱,而老妇人则报以最美丽的微笑.
When the boy opened the door
to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by
the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today
that made you so happy?" He replied, "I had lunch with God." But
before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? She's
got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"
男孩回到家不久,母亲发觉他脸上的快乐,问道,"今天你做了什么这么高兴?" 他说,"我和上帝共进午餐了."
母亲正诧异,他紧接着说,"知道吗? 她拥有这世上最美的微笑."
Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her
home. Her son was stunned by the look of peace on her face and he
asked, "Mother, what did you do today that made you so happy?" She
replied! "I ate potato chips in the park with God." However, before
her son responded, she added, "You know, he's much younger than I
expected."
同时,老妇人回到家中,脸上挂满喜悦.儿子问道,"母亲,今天发生了什么事情让您如此开心?" 母亲答道,"我和上帝一起在公园吃薯片了."
儿子再次开口前,妇人道,"知道吗?他比我想象的年轻得多."
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind
word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of
caring, all of
which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into
our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime! Embrace all
equally.
我们常常低估了那些小细节的力量,一缕轻抚,一个微笑,一个词语,一对倾听的耳朵,一句忠心的赞美,或者最微小的关爱之举都可能有着改变生活的巨大潜力.因为某个原因,人们走进彼此的生活,一段日子或一生陪伴.
拥抱他们吧.
