New Ice Hotel to Open Doors /
From Reuters

Canadian entrepreneurs announced plans on Tuesday for North America's first Ice Hotel and said 1,000 tourists had already signed up to spend a night in a chilly building made of ice and snow.
“We've already received more than 1,000 reservation requests. These numbers exceed our expectations and we predict a big success for our first year of operation,'' Ice Hotel communications director Francis Leonard told Reuters.
The hotel, built of 4,500 tons of snow and 250 tons of ice, is scheduled to open next January just outside Quebec City. It will stay open for the three months, before it melts next spring.
The historic city is already well-known for its Winter Carnival in early February.
The Ice Hotel's facilities will include a bar, a cinema and art galleries, with exhibits made of ice, as well as executive suites complete with an ice bed. The cost -- C$165 ($109) a night -- will include a hot breakfast.

The concept of an ice hotel is being imported from Sweden, which constructed what its owners say was the world's first ice hotel in Jukkasjarvi, some seven hours' drive from Stockholm.

Students Need Course in Manners /
From Reuters

A Hong Kong university don has ticked off college students for their bad manners, saying they yawned without covering their mouths and lacked the most basic of social etiquette taught to kindergarten children.
Local media reported that Professor Edward Chen, head of the Lingnan University, had told Metro radio station that he was appalled by the disrespect shown to teachers by university students.

Blind Man Plans to Climb Mount Everest /
From Reuters

时,留下了一句“千古绝唱”般的名言:Because it is there. I climb because I enjoy adventure. You learn about yourself and the outside world.】

A 32-year old American man will try to become the first blind person to climb Mount Everest, the world's highest peak, this spring, organizers said Tuesday.

Deepak Lama of hiking agency the Wilderness Experience, which is providing support services for the attempt, told Reuters the American team was expected to try to scale(攀登)the 29,035-foot mountain in the climbing season starting in March.
Weihenmayer, from Denver(丹佛,美国科罗拉多州首府), Colorado, is totally blind.
Weihenmayer
He does not need constant company on ice and when rock climbing, but he needs someone near him when the climbing involves a mixture of rock, snow and ice.

He also needs someone to give him information about the terrain地形)when traversing(穿越通过), but he does not want anyone to touch him.
“I climb because I enjoy adventure,'' Weihenmayer told Reuters during a trip to Nepal (尼泊尔) last year. “You learn about yourself and the outside world.''
