Dear editor,

With the widespread of the Internet, people can do many things over the Internet, of course, including some bad things. You can see almost every day that some person was attacted or cheated over the Internet and the police couldn't know who did it because netizens were not registered in their real name. Therefore, the real-name system over the Internet is proposed by some administrative people. Ideas on the system are mixed: some think it's good because it can prevent netizens from being attacted and cheating and it can help the police find criminals quicker; some think it's not good because freedom of netizens is limited and netizens'privacy is not protected and the charm of the Internet will be weakened.

There are some examples of the application of the system. Hangzhou Computer Information Network Security and Protection Management Regulations have been enacted from May 1st this year. According to the Regulations, netizens of Hangzhou have to register their identity when they try to release a post or publish a blog since May 1st. And in Korea, such a system has been applicated for several years. This system, according to some reports, has helped to improve Korean network business.

To me, the advantages of the system outweigh its disadvantages.

What do you think of this real-name system over the Internet? Does foreign Internet use the system, too?

I'm looking forward to your reply.

Linda
