    知识点1  The other day，my friends and I talked about the rules that we have in school.几天以前，我和朋友们谈论我们学校的规定。

    【讲解】the other day“几天以前，前几天”的意思，相当于a few days ago，和一般过去时连用。

    【例1】用动词的正确形式填空。

    ①My brother______（meet）one of his old friendsthe other day.

    ②I’m busy today.I______（do）it some other day.

    【解答】①一般过去时met。②一般将来时wil do/am going to do。

    警示

    the other day “前几天”，用于一般过去时。

    some other day “某一天”，用于将来时。

    知识点2  Our teachers believe thatif we did that，we would concentrate more on our clothes than our studies.我们的老师认为如果那样，我们会将更多的注意力放在衣服上，而不是放在学习上。

    【讲解】（1）believe后面为that引导的宾语从句，宾语从句中又包含有if引导的条件状语从句，宾语从句中did，would concentrate为虚拟语气。

    （2）concentrate动词，“集中，聚集”的意思，其名词为concentration。

    concentrate on sth./on doing sth.表示“全神贯注于某事，专心致志于某事”。

    I believe if you work hard，you’ll succeed.我相信，只要努力就会获得成功。

    I must concentrate on my new task.我必须专注于我的新工作。

    We must concentrate on improving our edueation.我们必须集中精力提高教育水平。

    【解答】题意为“大量的外国公司把注意力集中在中国市场上”。答案为B

    知识点3  We would feel more comfortable and that is good for studying.我们将觉得更加舒服而且对我们的学习有好处。

    【讲解】be good for意思为“对……有益”，其反义短语为be bad for...“对……有害”。同义短语为do sb.good，“对……有益”。如：

    Fresh air is good for health.新鲜的空气有益于健康。

    Vegetables will do you good.蔬菜对你有好处。

    Playing computer games too much is bad for your study.电脑游戏玩得太多对你的学习有害。

    【例3】用for，at，to，of填空。

    ①Taking exercise is good_______ you.

    ④He was very good_______me when I was ill.

    【解答】①for  ② at  ③of  ④to

    提醒

    It’s good of sb.to do sth.表示“某人做某事真好，太感谢某人做某事”。其中of sb.to do sth.是不定式复合结构。

    拓展归纳:

    be good for sb./sth.对某人/某事有益，有好处

    be good at sth.擅长于某事，在某方面取得好成绩

    be good to sb.对某人很友好，仁慈

    知识点4  Last summer I had an opportunity to volunteerat the local hospital，but I couldn’t because I had to go back to school.去年夏季我有一个机会去当地医院当志愿者，但是我没能去，因为我必须返校。

    【讲解】（1）have an opportunity to do sth.有从事某事的机会

    opportunity名词“机会，良机”，后面常接of（for）的介词短语或动词不定式。

    （2）volunteer作名词时，指“志愿者，自愿参加者”。

    volunteer作动词时，指“自愿请求去做某事”，后面可接动词不定式或for的介词短语。如：

    He had an opportunity to travelto Hong Kong last year.去年他有一次机会去香港。

    Many students would like to be volunteers to run the Christmas show.很多学生自愿操办圣诞节演出。

    I volunteered to act as a police officer.我自愿扮演一名警察。

    【例4】根据汉语提示完成句子。

    ①我的朋友失去了一个出国的学习机会。

    4 You and your friend are starting a new Saturday English club.Make a list of rules about what should and should not be allowed.你和你的朋友正在筹办一个新的星期六英语俱乐部，列举出允许和不允许的一些规定。

    学习策略:

    这个活动可以采用小组合作的形式，先让每个人按自己的观点列举出一些规定，然后集中起来进行评比，看谁的规定最好。
