With the Internet becoming an increasingly closer friend to our daily life, online shopping is prevalent and pervasive among college students, white collars, and housewives. In the past, shopping could be an exhausting and time-consuming task for numerous people. However, now we can pick our desired items, compare the prices, and enjoy the service, with a cup of coffee on the table, by several clicks. Apparently, online shopping has become one of the most fashionable and trendy life styles for modern people.

 

There are a series of merits for this kind of shopping. First of all, online shopping, to a large extent, helps us to save our valuable time, which can be invested into our work, leisure, and study. Moreover, When shopping on the e-mall, we are exposed to more options at the same time. This advantage enables us to select our desired product in a better price and quality. Further, shopping online is a more eco-friendly way of living because it tremendously reduces our use of traffic, plastic bags, and money, directly or indirectly contributing to the protection and preservation of the environment.

 

However, it also gives rise to various problems annoying and upsetting us. On the one hand, since it is impossible for us to see and check the goods online, some immoral sellers

may send us unsound and fake ones, resulting in bigger loss of our money and mood. On the other, when we fill in our personal information and the credit card number online, these privacy are at risk of being leaked and resold to more people, which would bring about some undesired and unexpected consequences.

 

To conclude, every new-born phenomenon can be a double-bladed sword. I suggest that we be more cautious when we shop online. This can be achieved by more careful comparison, selection of higher-rated seller on the e-mall, and consultation with our more experienced friends.

 

2011.6 四级快速阅读解析 by 季云竹


     今年快速阅读并不难,都很好定位,答案也几乎没有迷惑性;特别是后面的3个填空题,找到关键句后不需要任何更改。下面是快速阅读部分的答案及解析:

1、B. Its bad taste. (细节题)

    题干出现大标题关键词英国料理,并且又是首题,其实是问全文主旨。题干generally known for对应首段首句(标题下斜体字算题注,不算正文段落)reputation,故定位至此。本段段首直接发问为什么英国料理名声如此之差,后面简短的一小句给出了答案: Because it is bad。直接对应B选项。

2、A. an inadequate supply of production (因果关系细节题)

    通过题干中二战(SWW)定位至第四段中间。本段主要叙述二战之前,英国都是进口食品;战后,食品只能进行配给(rations)。所以选A:产品不足。
3、B. Its people cared more for quantity (因果关系细节题)
    通过题干中compete/neighbouring等词定位至原文第六段末句,最后一句正是说英国的食物比不上周边的国家;原因在本段之前的句子中找,前面说人们在那时候并不重视事物的质量而是有什么吃什么,他们几十年以来都更看重事物的数量(this prioritization of quantity over quality prevailed for decades),因此本题选B:人们更关注数量。
4、C. all kinds of overseas visitors (细节题)
    通过culinary非常简单地定位到第七段又括号注释的句子中,本句是but句,本来就表达作者的重要观点,故细读。这句说英国料理现在发展到可以去please the tastes of any international visitors,根据“看见神马选神马原则”发现题干中被挖掉的就是C答案。
5、C. New ideas and presentations (细节观点题)
    本题问DT认为HK食客喜欢什么,出现DT和HK的段落为第八段,故答案在本段中找。题干中welcome对应本段最后一句DT引语中的be (extremely) responsive to,后面的new ideas or presentations对应C答案。九段首embrace也和welcome对应,后面的modern British trend也有“新”之意,只有C答案对应。
6、D. maintain British traditional tastes (细节题)
    还是根据DT来定位,文章再次出现DT是第十段。十段段首说DT属于第二阵营,这里second camp是段首指代,去上段还原指代。while others后对应second camp,文章说这些人在用一些ingredients(n.原料,读起来像“硬搁一点的”)的同时坚持要保留英国料理原汁原味,而DT又与这些人为伍,故选D。
7、B. They are produced on excellent organic farms (细节题)
    根据NT定位到第12段中间处,NT后为他的引语,引语中往往出答案。他说英国有最优秀的有机农场,精湛的人造乳酪和高质量的肉类。B关于英国食材的表述是在NT的话中有对应的。
8、local markets
    根据DT来定位(尼玛肿么又是DT...),文章第三次提到DT在第14段,他说他们一星期走英国进口一次食材(这不就是第八题前半句么),于是关键句必然在此,后面说"we take our vegetables from local markets",take对应题干的buy,于是这里被挖了的就是local markets。
9、in a British way
    出现题干中P,M的地方是15段首句,但是出现不用英国原料的陈述是在下一段的首句,原句被动语态are presented in a British way,改成第九题主动语态后in a British way不用改变,直接抄上去。
10、share their meals
    YP出现在原文倒数第二段首句,首句就说餐厅员工会问顾客whether they would like to share their meals,如果要是愿意的话,服务员就会给他们上一个full dish(就类似于新疆大盘鸡的东东 - -)。于是would like之后就直接填原文中被挖了的东西就可以了。

2011.6 四级仔细阅读解析 by 季云竹

 

Passage One

    本文是一篇实验型文章,新四级考试的仔细阅读部分中,实验型文章一共考到过3次,分别是09年06月第二篇、10年06月第二篇和10年12月第二篇,都是最近的几次考试;因此在考前我就重点强调过这类文章,果不其然在今天上午进行的四级考试中就再次出现了。对待此类文章大家需要知道,要重视的部分是原文中对于实验目的或者结论的叙述,因为这些在实验型文章中必然是全文的主旨;阅读时注意略读实验前准备和实验具体流程,而是主要以一些表达实验结论的名词、动词为信号,迅速抓到文章的结构主体。下面是这篇文章5道题的解析:

57、D. Interracial lodging may have diverse outcomes. (主旨题/实验结论)

    关键词划some recent studies,然后迅速定位至首段首句同义表达several recent studies。题干问从这些实验中我们可以了解到什么信息,这是对实验结论提问的最基本方式之一。首段首句found一词是表达实验结论最常见的动词,于是后面的内容为解题的关键。"being randomly assigned to a roommate of another race can lead to increased tolerance but also to a greater likelihood of conflict"表明:被随机分到一个异族的室友可以导致(对他族人)忍耐度的提升,但也可能提高发生冲突的可能;换句话说就是异族混居可能导致(利弊)不同的结果。Interracial lodging就是异族同宿(怎么听起来有点口味重...),和"being randomly assigned to a roommate of another race"对应,后面不同的结果对应D选项的"diverse outcomes"。A中unavoidable,B中prejudiced,C中more harm than good均是文中未提及的信息,故排除;同时D中出现委婉词may,优先考虑。

58、D. Being surrounded by white peers motivates a black student to work harder to succeed. (语义题)

    关键词毫无疑问是SB(SB是个神马...),本题虽然没有直接问某句话的含义,但是题干问的是“SB说的话(remarks)”的含义,定位回原文发现还是一个句义题。该句出现在第四段末句,该句含义为如果你被一群白人包围着,你就有些东西需要证明。其实根据句义题正确答案和原句表达方式相似的解题思路可以轻松选出答案,D答案有被动语态,又是以黑人作主语,整个句子体现的又是正面的态度,于是在读完原句后可以毫不犹豫地去选。当然对于不是特别擅长阅读技巧的同学就需要回到原句看上下句。上句在上段,这段表达的主要内容是俄亥俄州立大学的一个实验研究发现(又是实验结果,这种东西在文章里必然会出个题目考你啊!!)跟白人一起住的黑人学生成绩会比较好一点,这是态度多么积极的一个表达,而SB的例子又支持了这个研究结果,所以可以直接选到D选项。C中出现了在原文中出现过的干扰信息the freshman year,但A/B/C中均有未提及信息,故都排除。

59、A. Interracial roommates are more likely to fall out. (细节题/实验结论)

    关键词IU,在第7段,这题又是考某实验结论,于是继续找表达结论的动词,于是又十分高兴地找到了found... 后面的内容"Interracial roommate were three times as likely as two white roommates to no longer live together"意为:一白一黑的宿舍分居的可能是两白人宿舍的3倍。那么no longer live together就与A项中的fall out(争吵、离队)是互为同义替换关系的。B中的few,C中的just+not都是绝对化词汇,不选,D答案针对性不强,属于扩大范围;同时A中的more likely也是委婉表达,这样的选项优先考虑。

60、D. The school randomly assigns roommates without regard to race.(语义题)

    关键词AW,定位回原文第10段,这段AW一共说了两句话,其中第二句是考点:“这就是融合(integration)的定义。”这句开始就有指代,于是答案一定在她说的第一句话中;第一句话大意就是随机分配新生宿舍是件好事儿。A中required语气过于强烈;B项未提及,原文没说硬要异族同宿;C项与原文相反,原文说with some exceptions,这里说没有例外;D选项与原文含义契合,表达学校分配学生宿舍的时候不包含种族色彩。

61、A. It is unscientific to make generalizations about it without further study.(细节观点题)

    题干GK第一次出现在第八段,但根据顺序原则,最后一题答案一定在最后两段中,而Kao又一次出现在了第二段,所以我们要在这段中寻找Kao对异族同宿的看法。这段话虽然只有一句,但还是比较难以理解的。但选答案其实不难,纵观ABCD四个答案,B中schools,C中before lodging is assigned,D中advisors都是末段没出现的信息,只有A中出现原文中长词generalizations,于是如果猜答案的话也应该优先猜A。当然末段的意思是:Kao说她反对(caution作动词表示警告,against一词表示反对后面的内容)基于以上任何实验结果而行程的任何概论,并指出,学生们的更多背景资料需要被研究并解释。于是A答案是与这句话相对应的,意为:不经过深层研究即作出论断是不科学的。

 

Passage Two

    不得不说我非常高兴或者说异常激动地发现第二篇仔细阅读又考的是实验研究型的文章… 于是之前提到的话就都不赘述了,我只想表达来新东方上了课的孩子是多么的幸福!这篇文章的话题——全球气温变暖,也是在08年6月的第一篇仔细阅读考过的。

62、B. Rates of death from illnesses have risen due to global warming. (细节题/实验结果)

    本题定位词当然是划GHM,然后根据顺序原则从第一段开始往下溜,在文章第二行发现了这三个词;下一步在附近找表达实验发现的词,于是看见according to,那么逗号之前的就是答案。这句很好理解,就是说全球气温变暖导致了每年死亡人数上升和经济下滑。于是根据这句信息去排除选项,发现ABCD好像都多少有信息未提及… 于是定位点信息一定没有找全。接着看下去到第二段,发现还是在说GHM的实验报告,第二句中动词found表明又是GHM的研究结论,大意是人类影响的全球气温变暖导致了各种疾病带来的死亡率,也就是B答案。A中经济发展的速率、C中in poor countries、D中经济趋势都是未提及信息。

63、A. It was challenged by some climate and risk experts. (细节型推断题)

    定位词只能划GHM的report,根据顺序原则从第三段看起,三段出现段首剧转折But,那么我说过这种段里面必会考一题。于是这题又是个推断题,我们既然已经定位到某一段,接下来就是根据本段信息逐一排除选项。本段大意是:这份报告在公布之前就受到了(drew,还记得这个词有吸收的意思吗童鞋们?)一些气候专家和风险专家的批驳,他们质疑这份报告的方法和结论。A答案和本段多点对应,归纳、总结了全段内容,为本题正确答案,B中interest,D中developing countries都是未提及信息,C表示报告内容被环境学家欣然接受,与原文态度完全相反,故都不选。

64、B. It is invalid in terms of methodology. (细节态度题)

    题干问DP对GHM报告的看法。DP出现在原文第五段,这段比较难理解。首先表达观点的动词为said,他认为这份报告是“a methodological embarrassment”,中间那个词不认识没关系,embarrassment还是认识的,叫做尴尬,是负态度词;然后中间一切都是浮云,读到最后一句说这份报告是有瑕疵的,于是又是负态度词;那么我们应该选的就是负面的选项。C选项态度中性,直接排除。A选项直接抄了原词embarrassing,但是原文中该词是名次形式并打了引号,意为表达的不是字面意思,而A没有跳出这层肤浅的含义,直接排除。D项“有目的地夸张”是未提及信息,不选,于是只有B选项可选。Invalid叫做无效,methodology叫做方法论,可以看出这个词就是原文中methodological的同根同义词性变换。也就是说这个报告的结论从方法论的角度上来看是无效的。

65、D. Its rough estimates are meant to draw the attention of world leaders. (细节态度题)

    定位词SA,通过这个人名定位到原文倒数第二段。段首又是剧转折,表明这个人的态度一定与上段的DP是反的,因此他必然是支持GHM的报告内容的。先排除否定态度的B选项。本段这人表达了两个观点,第一个出现在saying后面,说报告的数据都是粗略的估计;第二个出现在said后,表示这个报告的目标受众是即将参加哥本哈根全球气候大会的各国首脑。那难道还不选D么 - - 。D中又出现了draw作为吸收的意思。A中carefully collected data和原文rough estimates完全相反;C中作出了原文中并为提及的预测。

66、D. How rich countries can better help poor regions reduce climate hazards. (细节态度题)

    本题问KA对哥本哈根焦点的期待。只剩最后一段,直接去读。在第一句中出现题干focus的替换focus on,后面即为答案,大意为应该增加从富裕国家到贫穷国家的金钱流动从而增强穷国抵御全球气温变暖带来的灾害的能力。于是就是D答案。A和B都有未提及信息很好排除。C选项在最后一段也出现了,但是是出现在while中的不重要内容,一定不是focus。

 

2011.6 四级阅读部分总结 by 季云竹

    本次四级阅读部分难度总体来说较为适中,两个新题型与历年真题相比较都不难。第一篇仔细阅读难度偏高,第二篇难度适中,但需要花费一定时间。纵观左右题目,细节题还是主流,除了两个语义题外,其余题目几乎全部可以算作是细节题;但本年最大的亮点就是仔细阅读部分考察了4道细节态度题,这就增加了对学生定位能力和提取有效信息能力的考察。做这类题目最重要的搞清楚问的是谁的态度和对谁的态度。在快速阅读中也考察了一道这样的题。另外就是两篇仔细阅读的文章都是实验研究型文章,特别是第一篇仔细阅读更为标准,这也最近几套真题阅读部分的命题走势是相一致的。另外在阅读词汇的考察上,还是出现了许多经典高频词和新兴词汇,比如从07年起多次出现的draw等;但也有出现新的词组和熟词僻意的考察。

    今年的翻译题目考查点的分配:语法3+固定搭配3 ,基本上还是符合语法点和固定搭配的兼顾性。

    3个经典语法点分别是:否定词前置的部分倒装,wish等词引导的虚拟语气,强调句。前两个是高频的语法知识点,我们在课堂上是作为重点讲解过,而强调句则属于一个简单语法点,首次在翻译中出现,也显示出它的灵活性。3个固定搭配考察的则是高频四级词汇以及短语

    综上我们可以看到翻译考察的方式是:固定的语法点+高频的搭配。之后四级考试的翻译复习与准备路线:集中突破语法点 + 多积累高频词汇及搭配。

Certificate Craze

 

Owing to the fierce competion in the job market, certificate craze has become a tendency on campus. For example, many undergraduates participate in all kinds of certificates, such as COMPUTER RANK, CET4, CET6 and even BEC LEVEL CERTIFICATE. During their campus life, they are exhausted to prepare these exams.

 

Several reasons contribute to this phenomenon. Initially, many companies place much emphasis on certificates, by which the capability of graduates can be measured to some extent, leading to the craze of certificate. Second, due to the fierce competition of the job market, the graduates are forced to obtain all kinds of certificates to acquire their ideal job in the limited occupations.

 

Certificate craze, from my perspective, can be solved by both our society and we individuals. The companies should attach more importance on the real capacity of graduates instead of certificates. After all, certificates can not completely prove the capacity of graduates. Meanwhile,the graduates are expected to equip themselves with solid knowledge and take more practice in their study field.

2011.6 六级快速阅读解析 by 唐思宇

 

1.The low graduation rates of minority students.

    American Hihger education=American university,出现在题注中,因此此题其实考主旨,可直接利用题注信息解题。注意题注后半句用another matter一转引出graduating这个关键词,因此该题选The low graduation rates of minority students。另一思路:用author可直接看到第三段,因前两段均不是作者言论。三段首二句提到美国曾经毕业率世界高,而现在毕业率世界第十。graduation rate反复在第三段中出现。
2.Its increased enrollment of minority students.

    用President Barry Mills以及Bowdoin College定位至首段首句,首句提到该人proud of Bowdoin's efforts to recruit minority students,这即是该人骄傲的原因,答案为Its increased enrollment of minority students,enroll=recruit。
3.The rising generation will be less well educated than the previous one.

    顺序原则,因下题的African-American与California定位至四段末,因此3题在大致二三两段。注意前两段均是例子,优先从第三段考虑,risk一词在三段二句后半句出现,明显选项The rising generation will be less well educated than the previous one是原文risk后同位语从句的同义改写,为正确答案。

4.Fifteen percent.

    定位到四段末句。后半句给了数字15%,选Fifteen percent。

    Harvard, Yale and Princeton定位至五段第五行到第六行插入语中,该句下半句用but引出实际原因,而选项They recruit the best students即是该句的同义改写。select=recruit。
6.Universities are to blame.

    Amy Wilkins, Education Trust定位至六段末句。该题问到Amy Wilkins该人的看法,六段最后该人的话语中提到学校赚了钱而学生则负债累累、没有学位、没有工作能力,对学校持负面评价,选Universities are to blame。

    下题Wisconsin-Mandison定位至8段中部,因此本题应在第7段。one year or two定位至七段末尾,该句提到学生们deeply in debt以及unable to pay,即为题干要的原因,均与选项They cannot afford the high tuition同义。

    首二段是例子引入可优先跳过,用say no to your boss定位至三段段首。该句后一句即出现题干中的find out,不能直接填入原文中的what,而是要把宾语从句信息补充完整。因此该题答案应为what is in his or her mind,也可写what is in your boss's mind。
48.challenging her authority

    second warning定位至三段第三句,题干by后缺动词ing表达,题干avoid running a greater risk=原文don't raise the stake,于是原文该句中by后的challenging her authority即是答案。
49.consequences

    也可将各选项带回首段找寻对应信息点。选项The general public...对应首段2、3两句,2句提到美国大众认为移民bad,三句提到经济学家且该句首有转折,可知经济学家对移民基本持正态度,因而大众与经济学家意见有分歧。选项Whether immigrants...提到经济学家的态度puzzle(被迷惑、无清晰态度),这与原文提到经济学家对移民的基本正态度不符。选项The American economy...后半部分在首段未提及。选项The consensus...同样与首段中经济学家的正态度相反。

2011.6 六级阅读部分分析 by 唐思宇

 

    本次快速阅读难度不大,基本保持了一贯的难度和考察点,依旧是考察段时间内细节定位能力。选项迷惑性较小,找准内容点后能较快选出选项。值得注意的是本次快速阅读除考察了8道细节性题外,还考了1到主旨性题

(首题)与一道例证型题(末题)。这都是之前在快速阅读中出现很少的考法,今后快速阅读考察方式可能也

会多样。但受时间和题型定位限制,考法再多变、难度应当也不会有太大变化。简答题同样没有为难大家,根

据题干定位词和空前信息,找到原文信息点没有太大困难。五道题全部考察的是填空题,题型上难度相对也较小,值得注意的依旧是填入的答案要保持与题干的一致。基本上快速准确定位能力是这两个题型的不变重点。

 

    传统阅读整体难度与之前持平,考法也保持了一贯的以细节型题为主,仅有第一篇第一题是段落宏观型考法。选项方面,正确答案依旧是典型的在原文信息基础上的改写、替换;错误选项迷惑性并不大,大多是采用了拼凑原文信息与原文未提及信息、或是直接用原文未提及的信息作为错误选项。因此课堂上提过的优先寻找正确

选项的思路依旧王道。文中考察点很明显地集中在课上提过的文中重点语言现象、如转折和递进上,事实上这两篇文章的10道题中有7道题的正确答案点位于文中转折或递进表达前后,这些重点语言现象在这类考试中一直是值得大家关注的重点。几道偏难的题主要难在定位上,题干定位信息不明显,需要结合课上讲过的多种定位方式寻找原文信息。出题规律性还是比较强,顺序原则依旧适用,且题目分散均匀。

    课上提过的Newsweek已经成为出题人大爱,The Economists依旧屹立不倒,Guardian之前考研选过但六级未选过,可见六级的选材和文章感觉与考研阅读进一步靠近,之后准备的童鞋可以参考这些题目来源。题材方面,这次考的题材涉及美国高等教育的问题、移民的争议和MBA的现状,这都是常见话题,课上都有提到过类似话题的范文或题目,可见教育、经济、社会等话题依旧是出题人关注的热点。但总的来说,六级阅读依然是细节性考法为主,主要考察考生定位、寻找信息能力和对常见改写的敏感,相对不太强调考生归纳、理解和宏观把握能力,这个趋势看来不会有太大变化。

    六级完形原文就是王道,其实答案解析都是浮云啊……各位童鞋可自行对照Guardian原文:

分析:今年六级完形跟往年类似,文章不难,话题较为易懂,考得较多的依旧是词汇的含义和用法辨析,这是对考生较高的要求。对完形的准备可以从词汇和阅读两方面入手,词汇方面注意纲内动词、形容词的用法以及常用固定搭配,阅读方面注意一定的宏观把握大意的能力。
