There are very few names in the world as famous as Janet Jackson is. She is from a music royal family, a member of the Jackson 5. When she started performing she was only 7 years old and is the closest brother to Michael Jackson. We literally saw her grow up...as a talented kid dancer/singer, as teen actress and of course today as a mature actress and a very successful concert and recording star. She has sold over 100 million records, won 5 Grammies, has had 35 #1 singles (her current No.1 single is called Nothing). Presently she is launching a book called True You about self-esteem and in 2 movies one of which is called Why Did I Get Married Too. She was nominated for best actress in this movie at the NAACP Image Awards!

She came to Shanghai for the first time Feb 12. I knew about her trip to Shanghai way back in Sardinia in the summer when we were together , but she did not know why she was coming, only that she was singing for a private birthday party. I couldn’t figure out who that person could be until Feb 12 when I was kindly invited to have dinner at the birthday party of Bertel, owner of English First, which is the largest English instruction school in the world. It was a very impressive party with 380 guests flown in from all over the globe. I can’t talk too much about this because it was private and they did not even allow any outside media to cover this extravaganza.

Janet was supposed to be a surprise for all the guests so no one knew who was the last performer of the event. She performed 8 songs and brought the owner on-stage to wish him a very happy birthday. It was indeed wonderful...the first half she was wearing a leather pantsuit. It was beautiful on her. Her face is so pretty.

She is a ferocious performer on stage, but in person she is soft-spoken, very gentle and very shy. You will never know it by watching her on stage. She is also very humble. She never brags about herself. I love that woman. She is a very talented and special person.

Afterwards, Janet wanted to spend some special private time with me. So I went to the back stage and then we both went up to the Jade 36 bar in the Pudong Shangri-La Hotel to have a private drink, just us. Her manager told me that of the 15 years he has been with her, this was the first time he saw Janet spend time with anyone after a concert. Usually she would want to go straight back to her room and sleep.

Janet told me that the stop in Shanghai is part of her world tour called , Up close and Personal. She told me that she was surprised that in Manila and Jakarta and Singapore, the audience was not reserved at all, they were all standing up and very animated. She was told not to expect any of these audiences to be very lively. She was pleased. She told me that her handsome and tall boyfriend, a Qatarian, is doing well with her. She is still coping with the pain of the death of her brother Michael. But she assured me that everyone is ok. Her world tour will continue in the USA. All the concerts in the USA have been sold out.

She wants to fly to Shanghai to dine with me in the fall when she goes to Tokyo to perform. I wish I knew someone who actually would like to bring her to China to perform for the public, perhaps to Beijing or to Shanghai. I think she will have a very receptive audience in all of you.

珍妮的表演绝对是给在座的所有嘉宾一个惊喜，因为没有一位客人知道最后的压轴表演会是她。她演唱了8首歌曲，并送上了祝福。真的很精彩，她身着皮装出场的时候，点燃了全场的气氛，她长的真漂亮。

在舞台上她是一个活力四射的表演者，但是平时的她十分的温柔，非常有礼貌，还有点害羞。如果你只看她在舞台上的的表演你但你永远也不会知道。她也十分的谦逊，从来不喜欢吹嘘自己，真是个既有才华也很特别的女子。

表演结束以后，珍妮希望能和我单独聊会。所以我去了后台然后一块去了浦东香格里拉的Jade 36，她的经纪人告诉我，从珍妮15岁开始就他已经跟着她了，这是她第一次看到珍妮在结束表演以后愿意出来的。她经常都是结束表演后回到后台然后直接去休息。

珍妮告诉我这站来上海是她全球巡回演唱的一部分。她告诉我她被马里拉和雅加达还有新加坡的的观众所震撼，这些歌迷欢呼雀跃。她没有想到他们竟然这么热情。她很高兴。她告诉我已经她有一个又高又帅的男朋友，和他相处的很好。她依旧沉浸在失去哥哥的悲痛中，但她告诉我现在每个人都很好。她也会继续美国的巡回演唱会。所有美国的演唱会门票已经全部售出。

她想今年秋天的时候去东京表演的时候可以顺道飞来上海看我。我希望那些真正喜欢她的人可以邀请她来中国表演，或许是北京也可以是上海。我相信你们也会成为她的拥趸。
