As I battled against the raging currents that carried me farther and farther from the shore, I came to a gut-wrenching realization: my once confident swimming abilities were no match for the overwhelming strength of the water. As I tried propelling myself towards the beach, my every motion was a struggle against the fierce undertow, and the sand kept shifting away with every step I took. With each passing moment, fear and uncertainty weakened my body and caused me to succumb to the violent rhythm of the waves.
The merciless waves relentlessly battered against my face and the demons within seemed to lure me deeper into the abyss. Fear coursed through my veins, and I gasped for air while waving frantically and screaming for help. Sadly, my dear friend was almost blind without his glasses and midst the deafening roar of the waves, my desperate pleas went unheard and the danger I was in remained unnoticed.
Determined to get his attention, I made one more attempt to alert him. Throwing both arms in the air like a drowning conductor, I flailed wildly in a desperate signal for help. Finally, a glimmer of concern flickered across my friend's face as he gestured wildly for me to perform forward breaststrokes towards safety. Little did he know, I had already attempted to do so with my feet straining in the taunting sand, seemingly ages ago.
As the cold, salty water engulfed me, I was sure this was the end. And then, as if from nowhere, a spark of hope surged within me like a flame reignited. “No No No!" I cried, my voice raw and breaking. "Not today! My life was meant for more than this!" Summoning my reserved inner willpower, I forced myself to remain calm. With a deep breath, I plunged underwater, then a solution came when I resurfaced: I could become a human surfboard, riding out the current parallel instead of head-on. Albeit experimental, I was out of options. I paddled with all my might, praying for a miracle.
Thank god I felt myself gaining momentum and a forward motion made me want to cry out with relief. Just as I thought I might make it, I saw something even better: my friend, approaching in the distance to pull me to safety. With a burst of energy and relief, I swam towards him, grateful for another day.
Despite being rescued, the experience left me with a renewed sense of respect for the vast and unpredictable forces that shape our world. As humans, it is not only necessary but imperative to equip ourselves with knowledge and understanding, to prepare for and to handle such situations. We must coexist with nature in harmony, without underestimating its immense power.
I would like to share my experience with all those who enjoy swimming in the ocean, and offer some tips that could prove invaluable. Firstly, if you are confident in your swimming abilities, it's important to remember that swimming in a pool is different from the ocean, which has currents and unseen rapids. Secondly, if you feel in danger while swimming in the ocean, try not to be fearful. Maintaining confidence is crucial because fear can drain your strength, which is essential for survival. Thirdly, when feeling threatened, it is advisable to position your body horizontally rather than vertically. This will help you to counteract the pull of any currents beneath the water's surface.

Her discerning ways guided me through my plight,
And I felt grateful for her wisdom, shining so bright.
My mother, ever clever, found a way
To raise the funds we needed to pay
For my education, a lofty goal
In times of hardship, a worthy toll.
Dozens of rabbits she bred and cared
And from their soft hair, a treasure she shared
With those in need of such a fine art
To weave and sell, with a mother's heart.
As the 80s dawned, our countryside

My mother, however, had a different view,

My mother's gentle knock each night did sound,
Reminding me of time's relentless bound.

Bathed in love, grown up I became,
A successful adult with much acclaim.
I beckoned Mother to my villa fair,

Instead of the sofa, she left us in search.
"Living in this fine place, I must ask,
Can one survive without a meal or task?"
A simple question brings me to a pause,
As I ponder the beauty in what's often ignored.
For every object has its own worth,

It found if everyone did as little as 11 minutes of daily activity, one in 10 premature deaths could be prevented.
Most people don't manage to do the minimum recommended 150 minutes of exercise a week, however.
But doing some exercise is better than doing nothing, the researchers from the University of Cambridge say.
The NHS recommends everyone does 150-300 minutes of physical activity that raises the heart rate every week or 75-150 minutes of vigorous activity per week, which makes you breathe hard.
The research team looked at hundreds of previous studies on the benefits of physical activity and concluded that even doing half the recommended amount could prevent one in 20 cases of cardiovascular disease and nearly one in 30 cases of cancer.
That equates to 75 minutes per week - or 11 minutes per day - riding a bike, walking fast, hiking, dancing or playing tennis.
"You should feel yourself moving, your heart will beat faster but you won't necessarily feel out of breath," says Dr Soren Brage, who led the research.
Doing that amount is enough to reduce the risk of developing heart disease and stroke by 17% and cancer by 7%, the findings suggest.
Regular exercise reduces body fat and blood pressure while also improving fitness, sleep and heart health in the long run.
The benefits of exercise were even greater for some specific cancers, such as head and neck, gastric, leukaemia and blood cancers, but lower for lung, liver, endometrial, colon and breast cancers.
Not everyone finds it easy to do the exercise recommended by the NHS - two out of three people say they do less than 150 mins (2.5 hours) of moderate exercise and fewer than one in 10 manage more than 300 mins (five hours) per week.
"If you are someone who finds the idea of 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity a week a bit daunting, then our findings should be good news," says Dr Brage.
"If you find that 75 minutes a week is manageable, then you could try stepping it up gradually to the full recommended amount."
The analysis, in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, looked at previous published research on the benefits of exercise in nearly 100 large studies and nearly 200 peer-reviewed articles to get an overview of the evidence.
They calculated that if everyone in the studies had done at least 150 minutes of exercise a week - the full amount - then around one in six early deaths would be prevented.
The researchers say replacing some habits is all that is needed.
For example, they advise trying to walk or cycle to work or to the shops instead of using a car, or being active when playing with your children or grandchildren.
Getting enjoyable activities into your weekly routine is the best way to increase the amount of physical activity you do, they say.
The NHS recommends adults also do activities that strengthen muscles twice a week.
Yoga, pilates, lifting weights, heavy gardening and carrying heavy shopping bags all count.
