太阳刚刚升起来，五只小猴子就起床了，他们踮着脚尖走路，其中两只小猴子已经走过了妈妈的房间，并且做出“嘘”的动作，怕吵醒妈妈。房间里妈妈还戴着耳罩呼呼大睡，而且她的房门上还挂了一块牌子，上面写着
“别把妈妈吵醒了---妈妈”。
Five little monkeys wake up with
the sun. “Today is Mama’s birthday!”
太阳出来了，五只小猴子也睡醒了。 “今天是妈妈的生日！”
Five little monkeys tiptoe past Mama sleeping. “Let’s bake a
birthday cake!”“Sh-h-h! Don’t wake up Mama!”
五只小猴子踮着脚尖走过妈妈的房间，妈妈还在睡觉呢。“让我们烤个生日蛋糕吧！”“嘘！别把妈妈吵醒了！”

One little monkey reads the recipe.
“Two cups of flour. Three teaspoons of baking powder.”
一只小猴子念食谱。“两杯面粉。三勺发酵粉。”
其他四只小猴子一边加一边念叨着：“两杯面粉。”“三勺来啦！”“我量了三勺！”
“我来加三勺！”可是一共只需要三勺发酵粉啊？多加了六勺会怎么样呢？
这只小猴子一边念食谱，还一边提醒其他四只小猴子别打喷嚏。两只小猴子在筛面粉，另外两只使劲捏着鼻子，就怕会忍不住打喷嚏。
“Sift everything together. But
don’t sneeze! You’ll wake up Mama!”
可最后他们还是打了喷嚏。
“Sh-h-h! Don’t wake up

五只小猴子悄悄跑到妈妈的房门口去看看妈妈醒了没，妈妈还在呼呼大睡呢。

“She’s still asleep. We can finish making the cake.”
五只小猴子跑去看看有没有吵醒妈妈。“她还在睡。我们可以做完蛋糕。”
然后他们有回到厨房继续做蛋糕。这次换了一只小猴子念食谱，其他四只去拿鸡蛋。
One little monkey reads the
recipe.
“Add four eggs.”
Four little monkeys each get some eggs.
一只小猴子念食谱。“加四个鸡蛋。”四只小猴子每只拿了几个鸡蛋。
一共只需要四个鸡蛋，可是四只小猴子还是和之前一样，每只都去拿鸡蛋。“我拿了两个鸡蛋！” “我拿了两个鸡蛋！” “我拿了三个鸡蛋！”
“我拿了三个鸡蛋！”最后的结果可想而知。

这只小猴子继续念食谱，其他四只也按要求干活。一只小猴子将鸡蛋打到大碗里，一只很疑惑地看着手里的鸡蛋，似乎在想：“到底应该要几个鸡蛋呢？”

“Don’t spill the oil!”
“我们还需要糖和油。”“别把油洒了！”
But one little monkey spills…
但是一只小猴子还是把油洒了…… 而另一只拿糖的小猴子正开心地偷吃糖呢！她还不知道倒霉的事情正等着她呢。

这不,她一下踩到油上, 啪地摔倒在地.

……另一只小猴子滑了一下，摔倒了。
“Sh-h-h! Don’t wake up Mama!”
“嘘！别把妈妈吵醒了！”
Five little monkeys check on
mama.
“She’s still asleep. We can finish making the cake.”
五只小猴子又去看看有没有吵醒妈妈。“她还在睡觉。我们可以做完蛋糕。”

五只小猴子继续做蛋糕,这次又换了一只小猴子念食谱.
One little monkey reads the recipe.
“Next, mix everything together and put it into pans. Then bake the
cake in the oven. ”
一只小猴子念食谱。“接下来，把所有东西混合到一起，放到锅里, 然后放到烤箱里烤。”
两只小猴子端着足足两大锅蛋糊来到烤箱面前,一只小猴子打开开关,另外两只还在舔勺子上的蛋糊.
Another little monkey says, “Now
we can go up to our room and make a present for Mama.”
另一只小猴子说：“现在让我们去房间给妈妈做个礼物。”

五只小猴子来到房间开始给妈妈做礼物. 一只小猴子在锯木板, 咯吱咯吱.
一只在敲钉子, 当当当. 一只趴在地上画图. 还有一只做着"嘘"的动作,让大家小声点.
Five little monkeys start to make
a present.
“Sh-h-h! Don’t wake up Mama!”
One little monkey says, “Do you smell something burning?”
五只小猴子开始做礼物。 “嘘！别把妈妈吵醒了！”
一只小猴子说：“你们闻到一股烧焦的味道了吗？”
不好，是我们的蛋糕糊了. 五只小猴子急忙跑走了.
Five little monkeys race past Mama
sleeping.
“Sh-h-h! Don’t wake up Mama!”
五只小猴子跑过妈妈的房间，妈妈还在睡觉。“嘘！别把妈妈吵醒了！”

他们跑到厨房一看, 不得了, 蛋糕弄得到处都是, 烤箱里还冒出了浓烟,
大家手忙脚乱地抢救蛋糕, 还有一只小猴子不忘提醒大家小声点.
“Oh no! The cake dripped all over.”
“Turn off the oven!”
“Save the cake!”
“Sh-h-h! Don’t wake up Mama!”
“噢，不好啦！蛋糕滴得到处都是。”“把烤箱的开关关掉。”" 快救救我们的蛋糕！”“嘘！别把妈妈吵醒了！”

烤箱里冒出的烟把消防车给引来了,
五只小猴子连忙抱着蛋糕来到屋子外面.
“Look! Here comes the fire engine!”
Says one little monkey.
“Sh-h-h! Don’t wake up Mama!”Says another little monkey.
“看！消防车来了！” 一只小猴子说道。“嘘！别把妈妈吵醒了！”另一只小猴子说道。
“Where’s the fire?”Shouts a fireman. “
“It’s not a fire!” Sniffs one
little monkey.
“我们把妈妈的生日蛋糕烤糊了。”
“Frosting might help,” says the other fireman.
“撒上糖霜可能会好一点。”另一个消防员说道。

五只小猴子和两个消防员来到厨房里给蛋糕撒上糖霜,并插上蜡烛,看起来真不错.
一个消防员还忍不住尝了一口.

“Now we can wake up Mama!”
五只小猴子和两个消防员给蛋糕撒上糖霜。“现在可以叫醒妈妈了。”

Five little monkeys and two
firemen sing to Mama very, very, very loudly.
And Mama wakes up!
“What a wonderful surprise,” she says.
“But my birthday is tomorrow!”
“Oh no!” say five little monkeys.
“But can we still have birthday cake for breakfast?”
“Why not?” says Mama.
五只小猴子和两个消防员给妈妈唱生日歌，声音非常非常大。妈妈接着就醒了！
“真是一个大大的惊喜！”她说。“但我的生日是在明天啊！”
“噢，不会吧！”五只小猴子说道。“那我们可以把蛋糕当早餐吃掉吗？”
“为什么不呢？”妈妈说道。

就这样, 大家一起来到厨房吃起了生日蛋糕. 味道真是好极了.
有两只小猴子又在商量明天再做一个蛋糕呢.
Five little monkeys, two firemen,

One little monkey whispers, “We can bake another cake
tomorrow.”
Another little monkey says, ““Sh-h-h! Don’t tell Mama!”
五只小猴子，两个消防员和妈妈都觉得这个生日蛋糕很好吃。
一只小猴子低声说：“ 我们明天可以再烤一个蛋糕。”
另一只小猴子说：“嘘！别告诉妈妈！”
