耿万义，1946年生于北京，毕业于北京艺术设计学院，长期从事美术编辑工作和油画创作，现为北京师范大学讲座教授、中国西藏油画研究会会员等。自上世纪70年代以来，耿万义便致力于西藏题材的油画创作，前后30余次深入西藏写生，贴近藏民生活，历经艰险，搜集了大量创作素材，2002年推出经典力作《藏人百图》，受到了社会各界人士的关注和赞赏。耿万义曾多次参加艺术博览会，受邀参加国内外画展，在国内外享有很高声誉，作品曾多次获奖，多幅作品被美国、日本、韩国、法国、新加坡等国家收藏。

耿万义是一位大器晚成但步履稳重和坚定的画家，他的西藏人物油画作品采用豪放、厚重的手法，刻画了一个个生动逼真的藏族妇女、孩童和良巴汉子，合成了藏民的艺术群像，作品透着藏族质朴的气息，展现了藏民族博大的胸襟和深厚的情感，使人感悟到与高原风雪相处、离太阳最近的人们特有的精神与文化。耿万义油画的绘画语言颇为讲究，笔触、色彩的逻辑关系十分缜密，绘画风格写实、“韵味” 突出，“可读性”强，画家力图通过这种独特方式去呈现其所见的真实的西藏风貌，让我们感受到西藏的阳光，感悟到耿万义作品的魅力！
