阅读理解

1. Why did they stop at a square?

1. As we had had a long walk through one of the markets of Old Delhi, we stopped at a square to have a rest.

语法重点

l 时间状语从句

ü 时间状语从句常用连接词：

连接词中文释义	连接词
当……时候	when, while, as

一……就……	as soon as, hardly…when…, no sooner…than…,

无论何时	whenever, no matter when,
直到	until

ü 连接词when, while, as的用法：都表示当……时候

注意when, while, as引导时间状语从句的时态特性：

Ø 同时发生在过去：延续性动词用was/were doing，非延续性动词用did

I was having dinner at a restaurant when Tony Steele came in.

Ø 先后发生在过去，后发生的动作用did，先发生的动作用had done

As I had had left the town, I drove to the next town.

ü 连接词by the time的用法：

By the time 过去时间（句子主句要用过去完成时）

By the time 将来时间（句子主句要用将来完成时）

The other students had finished exam by the time the boy entered the classroom.

ü 连接词as soon as, hardly…when…, no sooner…than…表示“一……就……”，强调动作紧接性。

翻译：我妈妈一回来我就把电视关了。

As soon as my mother had come back, I turned off the television.

= My mother had hardly come back when I turned off the television.

= My mother had no sooner come back than I turned off the television.

【注意】hardly…when…, no sooner…than…放于句首要倒装

Ø 倒装句结构公式1：No sooner had sb. done A than sb. did B

Ø 倒装句结构公式2：Hardly had sb. done A when sb. did B

把上一句改成倒装：

No sooner had my mother come back than I turned off the television.

= Hardly had my mother come back when I turned off the television.

（倒装句型供学有余力的学生学习，老师根据学生实际掌握情况及上课进度决定是否补充【学生版不出现】）

l have结构

注意观察以下两组例句斜体部分：

I walked in the garden.

I had a walk in the garden.

We will talk about the problem tomorrow.

We will have a talk about the problem tomorrow.

结论：动词 = have a 对应名词

EX. 同义转化

1. I swam in the sea this morning.

I had a swim in the sea this morning.

2. Those two sailors fought in the bar last night.

Those two sailors had a fight in the bar last night.

3. He tried again.

He had another try.

4. Did you sleep well last night?

Did you have a good sleep?

【Challenge yourself!】

【Easy】Rewrite the sentence without changing its meaning.

1. The fireman stopped working when all the workers were saved. （保持原意，改写句子）（上海一模）

The fireman didn’t stop working until all the workers were saved.

【Medium】Fill in the blanks with proper conjunctions.

2. They decided to drive the cow away before it did more damage.

3. I met my old friend, Tom while waiting for the bus.

4. Come to tell me whenever you change your attitude.

【Hard】Rewrite these sentences.

5. We got tired after we walked a long way.（保持原意）

We got tired after walking a long way.

6. He stayed in Shanghai after his daughter married.（保持原意）

He didn’t leave Shanghai until his daughter married.
