Step 3  Consolidation  (11mins)

1.Using pictures to make dialogs, let students master important sentence patterns.

2. Let students first read the example in 3, then work in pairs to practice after the example. Finally, the teacher chooses several pairs to act it out according to the pictures. Finish

T: Practice in pairs according to the pictures on the screen after the example. Then I’ll ask several pairs to act out their dialogs.

3.Ask several pairs to act out their dialogs. The other studednts listen carefully and write down key words they hear.

Step 4  Chant and relax (10mins)

1. The students do as the teacher asks so that they can master the important  patterns in a relaxing way.

2. Do the exercises given by the teacher on the screen as quickly as they can.

3. Listen to 2. Let students finish it alone. First, read through all the sentences and circle the key words as the teacher asks.

  T: Listen to the tape. First of all, circle the key words such as sb., sth., sw., and so on..

Step 5  Summary and homework (5mins)

1. Summary

Help the students to summary what we learn this period.

We learn:        1.New words:         2.New phrases: have a good time, dance to disco,                            be sure, perform ballet         3.New sentences: I can dance and play the guitar.                                          I can’t sing Chinese songs.                                          I'm sure we'll have a good time.We can: use ”can” and “can’t” for ability and inability.        (1) I can swim, but I can't play basketball.        (2) A: Can you sing Chinese songs or English songs?            B: I can English songs. 

2. Homework:

1.Write a short passage about your ability and inability(at least 60 words). The following words or phrases can help you.so...that... , a lot of things,  also (...,too),but (however,...)  2.Read the important sentence paterns in your heart.3.Finish Section A in your workbook.
