   北京路商业步行街是广州市越秀区一条集文化、娱乐、商业于一体的街道，地处广州市中心，是广州城建之始所在地，是广州历史上最繁华的商业集散地，是游客必去的旅游景点，也是我这次广州行的打卡点之一。

      6月8日，我旅游的最后一站就是北京路商业步行街。

    北京路步行街呈南北走向，北起中山五路，南至惠福路，全长440米，沿街商铺以经营服装、百货、鞋类、餐饮、珠宝为主，有著名的广百百货、天河城百货、新大新百货、光明广场等，这里商业气氛浓厚、档次高、品种齐全、设施完善，犹如北京的王府井大街。    

    北京路步行街实施全日制步行经过了三个阶段：1997年2月8日，经广州市人民政府批准，北京路部分路段逢双休日实施准步行；1998年5月1日至2001年11月，步行街逢节假日实施全步行；2002年1月1日起，步行街正式实施全日制步行。

    北京路步行街加入了一些文化元素和‘历史元素，是一条“看得见历史的繁华街道”，街道中央有“千年古道遗址”等一些古遗址展览。据悉2002年7月初，北京路步行街在整饰工程路面开挖过程中，出土了大量砂岩石条与古城墙砖。掘出了自南汉以来共五朝11层的路面和宋代拱北楼基址。这一遗址被称作“千年古道遗址”。

   近年来在北京路周边区域已陆续挖掘出了十多个历史文化遗址，包括秦番禺城遗址、秦汉造船工地遗址、唐清海军楼遗址、南汉御花园、明清大南门等重要遗迹，也无疑为这条集古典氛围与商业中心于一身的北京路再添一抹亮色。    

   据悉，北京路有一个典故：民国年间北京路那时叫“汉民路”，为的是纪念缔造民国的元勋、番禺人、曾任国民政府首任立法院长的胡汉民，后来在上世纪二十年代又改名“永汉路”，为什么叫“永汉”呢，知道的人就不多了。原来当时主政广东的是杨永泰，他想把自己的名字留在广州的路名上以垂久远，但当时的规矩是只有已故的历史人物才可享受此殊荣。杨永泰动了脑筋，就将“汉民路”改作“永汉路”，又将相近的万福路一段取名“泰康路”，这样就把“永泰”两字嵌入了两条路名之中，这也是北京路历史上鲜为人知的掌故。

     广州北京路的名字，与北京的王府井、上海的南京路、武汉的汉正街一样，是最繁华商业区的代名词！这条路是集万千宠爱于一身，可以看看历史建筑、了解历史文化、逛逛大型商场、品品当地美食，晚上看看夜景。去广州旅游，到北京路商业街逛逛，是个不错的选择。
