 “本届菊花展由省住建厅、厦门市政府主办，以“绿色发展·美丽厦门”为主题。展区占地面积约4.1万平方米，展出的各类菊花2万多株。设有引导区、童趣造型区、造型菊展区、科普文化展区、精品品种菊展区、艺术插花展区、盆景菊展区、菊园，以及悬崖菊、立菊、塔菊展区9大展区。”

展区分布在园博苑正大门右侧的岭南园、三角梅园、广州园和深圳园。各式菊花造型优美，以竹简书造型的《刘氏菊谱》和有陶渊明《饮酒·其五》中的“采菊东篱下，悠然见南山”

有气派非凡的主题造型、具有 “天女散花、福满人间”之意“的天女散花”造型，有以竹简书造型的《刘氏菊谱》和陶渊明《饮酒·其五》中的“采菊东篱下，悠然见南山”为历史文化主题的造型、富含非物质文化元素皮影为背景的菊花造型、颇具特色的园林小品组合造型、园博苑的标志月光环等造型，色彩缤纷的菊花与独具特色的背景相互衬托，精美的设计摆设与园林景观相得益彰，让人有移步景异之感。

 菊花品种繁多，“精品品种菊展区展出品种达到180个以上，帅旗、绿牡丹、桃红柳绿、墨荷、绿衣红裳、绿云、凤凰振羽、玉壶春、西湖柳月、黄石公等精品独本菊品种1000盆，春日见山、丽金、国华强大、国华雨晴等精品多头菊300盆。”有很多平时难得一见的精品菊花在此争奇斗艳，美不胜收，让游客大开眼界，大饱眼福。
