Use two frames sitting
on top of each other with the top frame being
transparent.
1) go to mapping styles and turn off half your curves
2) go to the legend and place it in the appropriate position
3) click on the frame and do a copy and paste.
4) the frames should line up on top of each other.
5) go to mapping styles and turn on the other half your curves, turn off the first half of your curves (i.e. the ones displayed in frame 1)
6) go to legend and give it an approximate position
7) go to frames and select none for the color of your frame
