英文写作中，或者我们看英文文献的时候，经常会遇到etc和et al。一些作者和读者对这两个词不太熟悉，经常混用。

其实，这两个词虽然都表示“等等”，用于列举的时候，但是他们是有分工的。

etc指的是事物、事件等。如：It is based on deeply refined oil with adding many kinds of additives, such as lubricant, antirust and antifoam additives, etc.

et al指的是人，用于列举过程中人名字的省略，如，This observation coincides with the results of Torres et al.
