Good
morning,ladies and gentlemen!I am glad to stand here to share my
teaching ideas with you.Today I am going to talk about the first
period in Section A of Unit 5 Why do you like pandas? My
presentation is mainly consisted of five parts: analysis of the
teaching material, analysis of the students,teaching aims, teaching
methods and teaching procedures .Now let’s
begin with the first part.
Part 1 Analysis of
the teaching material
This lesson is the first period of Unit 5.
The topic of this unit is about animals. Students will learn to
talk about their favorite animals.This is an interesting topic for
students. So all the activities in this unit are helpful to raise
the students’ learning interest. It’s helpful to cultivate the
students’ ability of listening , speaking , reading and writing by
talking about the animals they like.As for the grammar point,it
will go on focusing on the present tense.
Now let’s
go to the next part.
Part 2 Analysis of
the students
Most students are curious about new things
when they are in grade seven. They are interested in talking about
animals,especially their pets.The students have already known some
animals and their features through the prior study in the primary
school.However,most students don’t often use English to express
themselves and communicate with others.They are afraid of making
mistakes in an English environment.Though some of them are not
active in class,they have a strong desire to learn
better.
Part 3 Teaching
aims
1.Firstly Aims of knowledge:
In this lesson, students should learn some new words about animals
such as tiger, elephant, koala, panda, lion, giraffe and the words
to describe them,which include cute, lazy, smart, beautiful, scary
and so on. At the same time, students should also know how to use
the key sentences: like.--Let’s
see the lions first. .--Why do you want to see them?
--Because they’re
interesting..--Where are they from?
--They’re
from china….
2. Secondly Aims of abilities:
After having this lesson,students should
be able to use the main words to describe animals and use the main
sentences to talk about their favorite animals.Meanwhile, students’
abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing will also be
developed through practicing, and both of their sense of English
and ability of communication will be cultivated as
well.
3.Thirdly Aims of emotion:
From this lesson, the students should arouse their interest in
learning English,arouse their love to the animals and the nature,
and learn how to work with others and help each
other.

Part 4 Teaching
method:
As we all know, the main instructional aims of learning English is
to cultivate students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading
and writing. So I’ll mainly use Communicative language teaching
method, Audio-visual teaching method and task-based language
teaching method in this lesson. That is to say,
I’ll
give the students some tasks and use these methods to develop the
students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and
writing.I’ll also teach the students how to be successful language
learners and how to communicate with others. Let them study in real
situation and communicate with each other in order to develop their
interest in learning English.All in all, language is for
communication and for solving problems in real
situations.

Part 5 Teaching procedures
Step One Warming
up
1. First Greet with the students as
usual.
2.then
Lead-in:
Play a clip of video to show some sounds of animals. Let students
guess what animals they are.Then ask the students some questions:Do
you like animals?Do you like to go to the zoo?Today,we are going to
learn Unit 5 Why do you like pandas?
Step Two
Presentation
1.first
Show the students the pictures of animals to present the new words
in 1a.
2.then Practice the new words by matching the words with the
animals(activity
1a)and
check the answers.
Step Three Listening
practice
1.first let ss Listen and check the animals they hear in
1a.
2. Second let ss Listen again and write the animals they hear. Then
Draw a line from the animals to the description words and the
countries they are from.
3.then let ss Listen and complete the conversation with the words
in 2a.
Step Four Pair
work
Ask the students to
imagine that they are in the zoo and there are many kinds of
animals here.Then ask students to talk with their partners about
the animals.
Step Five Group
work(a Guessing game.)
Call one student to
come to the front. Show a picture at the back of him or her.The
student asks questions like:“Is
it big/Is it black and white…?”
Others
answer:
“Yes, it is./No, it isn’t.”
Then
guess what it is.
Step Six
Homework
1.first Remember the new
words and expressions.
2.second let ss
write a short passage to describe their favorite
animals
