Unit 13
一、知识点
1. make 用法:
1使让某人/物成为…: make sb +
宾语+n.
We made him captain of our football team.
2使 … 变得: make +宾语 + adj.
We must make the rivers clean.
3 让某人做某事：make sb do sth.
Loud music always makes me want to
dance.
4使让某人/物被...: make+ 宾语 + V-ed
The good news made us excited.
5使让某人/物一直…: make+ 宾语 + V-ing
He makes the boy standing all the time.
1. I’d rather go to the Blue Lagoon Restaurant because I
like to listen to quiet music while I’m
eating.
*****宁愿做某事：would rather do
would rather not do 宁愿做某事也不愿做某事：
would rather do sth than do sth
= prefer to do sth rather than do sth
= prefer doing sth to doing sth
2. It was so sad that it made us cry.
太…以至于…：so…that…= such…that…
so +adj. +a/an +n. =
such + a/an + adj + n.
such + adj + n.
eg: He is so lovely a boy that we all like him.
= He is such a lovely boy that we all like
him.
名词前有 many , much, few,
little修饰时，只能用so
3. They have to know how to make
money.
知道如何做某事：know how to do sth
知道做什么：know what to do
挣钱：make money= earn money
4. Here are some things they’ve learned from scientific
studies.
向。。。学习：learn from sb/sth
5. Customers only sit for about 20 minutes before they
leave.
坐了大约20分钟：sit for about 20 minutes
AAA: sit -sit -sit
6. Because customers don’t stay very long, small restaurants
can serve many people every day.
为。。。提供服务/招待/ 上。。。：
serve sb sth = serve sth to sb
7. How do you feel about people who keep you waiting?

让某人一直做某事：keep sb doing sth
继续做某事: keep on doing sth
使… 不进入，（使）…远离:keep out= stay

阻止… 做某事: keep … from doing = stop sb from doing
sth = prevent sb from doing sth
8. How do you feel about pollution?
9. Others hate ads, saying that they make our cities and
countryside look ugly.
讨厌做某事：hate to do sth.；hate doing sth.
让。。。看起来很丑陋：make 。。。 look
ugly
10. Many ads are aimed specifically at teenagers, and some

有时候：at times= sometimes

14. 说真话：to tell the truth= to be honest
说谎: tell lies

从。。。里跑出来：run out of
从。。。出来：get out of
16. To start with, it was raining, and rainy days make me
sad.
to start with =to begin with
17. In class, the teacher asked me for my homework, but as I
was so tense when I left home, I had forgotten to bring it with
me.
要我的作业：ask me for my homework
随身带。。。bring sb with sb
18. That made me annoyed with myself.
生某人的气：be annoyed with sb
对。。。生气：be annoyed at /about
sth
19. 没人在家。No one was home.
***no one不与of 连用，做主语时谓语用单数
一般用来回答 “who”的疑问句
none与of连用，一般用来回答 “ how many
”的疑问句.

21. Sometimes, receiving a gift can be difficult, especially
when someone buys you a gift you don’t want!
给某人买某物：buy sb sth. = buy sth for sb.

25. To make things easier, some people would rather just give
money.
