2014年8月4日12:43，新疆鸟友杨庭松（山猫）在伊犁河大桥下观鸟时拍到一只猛禽，经多方确认为中国鸟类新纪录鸟种——鹃头蜂鹰，这是鸟友近年来在同一区域发现的第二个全国新纪录。据《新疆鸟类分类与分布名录》（马鸣 2011），鹃头蜂鹰在喀什、库车林场有过记录。2005年6月28日邓杰等在阿尔泰山考察时记录到2只。但以上记录因为缺乏照片、标本等证据而未得到国内鸟类研究界的普遍认可，从而未能列入中国鸟类名录。根据鹃头蜂鹰在哈萨克斯坦的分布情况看，贾登峪、库车、喀什的记录都是有可能的。边缘分布数量很少，未来很有希望被记录到，需要拍到照片做为证据。

In August 4, 2014, 12:43, a new record of bird species in China —— Honey Buzzards Pernis apivorus has been found in Yili River by Tingsong Yang, the member of Xinjiang bird watching society. According to the "A CHECKLIST ON THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE BIRDS IN XINJIANG " (Ma, 2011), the Honey Buzzards Pernis apivorus have been recorded in Kashi & Kuche woodlands, and also have been recorded in the Altai Mountains (Jie Deng, 2005). But all of the records lacked support. The discovery not only solve for the historical doubts, but also added a new member to Chinese birds.
