差不多一天的工作都是自己不喜欢做的事儿，觉得浑身的毛都是“反”着的。下午锻炼以后，给一条羊毛格子半裙缝了两颗暗扣，明儿准备穿；再下地去看看。这么一看，伤心极了，不晓得是谁把我的好多郁金香花苞儿吃了呀！！！ 桃树下几丛郁金香里，至少有一丛全部被吃掉了，咬口齐斩斩的！一定是小鹿来吃了，她吃饱了，我也高兴 ，可是应该让宝蛋看到花儿再吃啊! 今儿我心里可真的有些很不好过。

昨晚将福特的The Long Gray Line看完了，拍得不大好；前面四十分钟左右的神经喜剧并非福特擅长，他的“喜剧”（comic element）在扎实的人物个性和刻画中，不在‘神经’中。还是从侧面着笔，写一个‘小人物’自爱尔兰踏上"西点均笑" 那一刻开始的一生之故事和命运，其中涵盖两次“石阶大占”，他与他们怎样训练培养他们，又将他们送上蘸场赴死。奥哈拉继续扮演善良、心灵强悍的爱尔兰女性。 虽然他们被训练去“赴死”，他们的职业就是如此，在一盏结束后，西点的所有同学们将桌椅板凳堆起来烧大火来庆祝：the war is over! 

福特仍旧用了许多的民谣，包括改了歌词的old fenian man；可是有一支作品反反复复地在影片中出现，那样的熟悉，我怎么也想不起来到底是什么，直到睡下了以后，忽然唱了出来， Love me tender, love me true, All my dreams fulfilled; For my darling I love you, And I always will…… 这不是耳熟能详的那首普莱斯列的“Love me tender”么！

早上醒来就查这首歌儿，福特为什么要这样重重地用这支曲子呢！这么粗粗一查，才明白自己多无知。

这支曲子原名：Aura Lea，最初为十九世纪两位刚到新大陆的两位欧洲人所作。这支歌儿深受人们喜爱，而U.S. Military Academy将这首歌儿作为了毕业班所唱的歌儿，名为“Army Blue”，随即南北战争爆发，南军与北军都爱唱这首歌儿，据说歌词重新填过。1956年猫王重新填词唱过，于是就有了那首我在梦里唱出来的“love me tender, love me true.” 而福特的这部片子拍摄于1955年。

又查了查Army Blue的歌词，以及Aura Lea (or Aura Lee)的原歌词，对比如下：
