人教版英语选修六第二单元Poems的Reading中出现了唐诗《望夫石》，教材中给出的唐诗译文可称经典，甚至比我国诗歌翻译大家许渊冲先生的译文更有味道，但不利于学生理解，为了帮助学生更深入的理解唐诗原文及译文，笔者尝试着将它翻译为高中生易于理解的形式：
《望夫石》
王建（唐）
望夫石，江悠悠，
化为石，不回头。
山头日日风复雨，
行人归来石应语。
A waiting stone
Where a
devoted wife stands by the riverside waiting for her husband, the
cold and merciless river flows endlessly until it disappears into
the distant sky.
She is so eager and determined to
meet her husband that she never looks
back.
She remains standing there for
thousands of years until she is transformed into a stone
figure.
Day in and day out the wind and rain beat gently agianst the mountain top, and she would utter no words before her traveller returns to reunite with her!
