I live in a very old town which is surrounded by beautiful woods.

先熟读：

town[taun]n.镇, 城镇, 市镇，都市, 市区; 商业中心区，[the town][总称]市民, 城镇居民，[苏]农场; 小村庄

千万不要把town分解成t, o, w,n去“背”。

因为town中的ow是一个组合，读[au]。

建议您先熟悉own和brown：

own[Eun]adj.自己的

注：ow读[Eu]

brown[braun]n.褐色

crown[kraun]n.王冠

特别提醒：以后遇到单词中有ow组合，只要注意它是读[au]还是[Eu]就可以了。

这是一个定语从句，修饰前面的名词town。

源自中古英语 surrounden [淹没]

特别提醒：现代英语中，动词不定式后缀-en已经基本上消失了。在德语中依然保留。可以说，德语相当于汉语的繁体字，而英语相当于简化字。
