Last year my English class was difficult.

去年英语课对我来说很难。

 

difficult[5difikElt]adj.困难的, 艰难的（dif+ficult）

源自法古语dificulte，最终源自 拉丁语 difficultās

dif-=dis-，否定前缀，用在f前的变化。

ficult源自facilis [容量]

建议您先复习一下cut和cult。

在拉丁语中，cult表“种植，培养”，在后面加上名词后缀-ure就成了一个英语单词culture：

culture[5kQltFE]n.文化, 文明（cult+ure）

agri-表“土地”，再组合在一起就是agriculture：

agriculture[5A^rikQltFE]n.农业, 农艺, 农学（agri+cult+ure）

联想记忆：

differ[5difE]vi.不一致, 不同（dif+fer）

dif-=dis-否定前缀，

fer源自拉丁语ferre [运行]。

 

different[5difrEnt]adj.不同的（dif+fer+ent）

-ent形容词后缀

difference[5difErEns]n.差异, 差别, 分歧, 争论, [数]差额, 差分adj.[数]微分的, [机]差动的（dif+fer+ence）

-ence名词后缀

differ(动词), different（形容词）, difference（名词）实际上是同一个单词，只是作为不同的词性使用时增加了不同的后缀。大家一定不可以把前缀和后缀也作为单词的一部分去“背”！不然，您很难享受记忆单词的乐趣。

it wasn’t easy for me （它）对我来说很难

这里的it是形式主语，真正的主语是后面的不定式短语。这样做的目的是避免给人头重脚轻的感觉。

It = to understand the teacher when she talked

 

when she talked 当她说话时

开始，她说的太快，我不能听懂每个单词，

分解一下：

Later on,I realized that it doesn’t matter if you don’t understand every word.

后来，我意识到如果你听不懂每个单词并没有关系。

分解一下：

I realized～ 我意识到～

realize[5riElaiz]vt.认识到, 了解, 实现, 实行（real+ize）

real[5ri:El]adj.真的, 真实的, 不动产的

-ize, -ise动词后缀，

联想记忆：

reality[ri(:)5Aliti]n.真实, 事实, 本体, 逼真（real+ity）

real（形容词）, realize（动词）, reality（名词）也是同一个单词，只是作为不同的词性使用的增加了不同的后缀。也就是说，您只要掌握real就可以了。建议您复习一下heal, deal, seal。

请牢记：绝大多数的后缀并不参与意思的表达，它们的作用往往是告诉您这是一个什么词。

 

后面是宾语（从句）：

that it doesn’t matter if you don’t understand every word.

如果你听不懂每个单词并没有关系。

 

再分解一下：

if you don’t understand every word.

如果你听不懂每个单词。

I was also afraid to speak in class,because I thought my classmates might laugh at me.

而且我害怕在班上说话，因为我认为同学们可能会嘲笑我。

分解一下：

be afraid to v.害怕（这样实际上是画蛇添足）

 

because I thought my classmates might laugh at me.

因为我认为同学们可能会嘲笑我。

laugh at v.嘲笑, 漠视, 因...发笑

I couldn’t always make complete sentences either .

我也不是总能造出完整的句子。

either[5aITE(r)]adj.任一的, (两方中的)每一方的pron.任一, 随便任一个conj.或者, 也

too,either都表“也”，不过either多数用于否定句。

例句：

If you don't order a dessert, I won't either.

如果你不点甜点，我也不点。

不定式短语作宾语。

下面是宾语（从句）：

这是一个简单的“主系表”句型，不简单的是它的主语是一个动名词短语：

Another thing that I found very difficult was English grammar.

另一件我觉得很难的事是英语语法。

您完全用不着在意语法，只要能读懂这个句子就可以了。如果老师要求“背”，请一定要在熟读的基础上再“背”。

我的建议是：您一定要在熟读的基础上再记忆（说背也可以）。最好能做到看到英语句子能翻译成汉语，也能做到看到汉语句子再重新翻译成英语。切记：不要贪多，收获一个句子就是一个。玩透的句子越多，您的写作能力就会越强。
