When a student has completed a pre-intermediate course, he enters a period of consolidation and expansion.

学生学完中级以下水平的教材后,就进入巩固和扩展阶段。

pand源自拉丁语pandere [展开]-are, -ere, -ire拉丁语动词原形后缀)

请注意比较pandpend的区别,复习一下panpen可能有助于记忆。
