宾 语 从 句 复 习

宾语从句：在复合句中如果从句充当了主句的宾语，从句就叫做宾语从句。

一 宾语从句的引导词：

1. 陈述句充当宾语从句时，从句由that来引导，that在句中无词义，口语中常省略。如：

They said (that) they wanted to see the headmaster.     He said (that) his father was a doctor.    I know (that) Betty lives in London.     Everyone knows (that) Bob likes football.

2. 一般疑问句或选择疑问句充当宾语从句时，从句由if或whether来引导(口语中多用if, 但whether使用范围广于if)，此时if或whether译为 “是否”，不可省略。如：

She asked if/whether the answer was right. (Is the answer right?)

He wanted to know if/whether the boy could swim. (Can the boy swim?)

I don’t know if/whether he lives here. (Does he live here?)

They want to know whether he is from China or Japan. (Is he from China or Japan?)

3. 特殊疑问句充当宾语从句时，从句由特殊疑问词引导。如：

I don’t know where he was born. (Where was he born?)

Do you know when the train will arrive? (When will the train arrive?)

Can you tell me what class you are in? (What class are you in?)

The children didn’t know who Father Christmas was. (Who is Father Christmas?)

二 无论什么句型充当宾语从句，从句一律用陈述语序。

三 宾语从句的时态：

1. 当主句时态为现在范围的时态时，从句时态不受主句影响，该用什么时态就用什么时态。如：I want to know what time he got up this morning.

2. 如果主句时态为一般过去时(或其他过去范围的时态)，从句时态受主句影响，也要用过去范围的某种时态。如：They asked what Kate was doing. (What is Kate doing?)

3. 当宾语从句表述的是客观真理、自然现象或格言谚语时，无论主句是什么时态，从句一般都为一般现在时。如：He said (that) the earth moves around the sun.
