   吕尧臣在当代紫砂艺术界是有突出艺术成就的一位大师，其作品既显示出精湛的技艺，又具丰富的文化内涵和个性鲜明的艺术思想，尤其是在绞泥工艺上取得的成就极大地丰富了紫砂的表现语言和表达能力，在数十年的艺术生涯中创作出好多件堪称经典的作品，就此而言，当代能与之相提并论的大师也是为数不多的。井栏造型也是延续至今的一种源于“曼生壶”的传统造型，吕尧臣曾经多次对传统井栏壶进行再创作。人们熟知的有“天际壶”、“天外天”和“古井移木壶”等。吕尧臣大师在对传统题材进行再创作时，总是会发挥自己非凡的艺术才智，给传统的经典赋予新的生机。“古井移木壶”是吕大师看电视剧《济公传》时获得的创作灵感。电视剧《济公传》里面说到方丈差遣济公去采购木料修善寺庙，他却一直在外面游逛，眼看期限马上要到了，济公施法，将远方的林木从寺院内的古井中源源不断地冒出。吕尧臣大师以井栏的造型为壶体，壶钮是一截正在从井水中冒出来的木桩，年轮清晰可辨，吕尧臣大师为新作取名“古井移木壶”。
