The Haunted Mask

The main character, Carly Beth, was a “Scary-cat”. Even if a leaf fell down, she would be screaming for a long time. Two boys who were Carly’s friends usually found something to scare Carly. So Carly really wanted to scare them someday. One day, the two boys gave Carly a turkey burger which they said that they didn’t like it because their mom had forgotten to put some mayo in it. Carly thought it was true, so she ate it. After that, everybody began to laugh, even her best friend Sabrina laughed happily. Seriously, Carly ate a worm. Yuck!

 Halloween was coming. Everybody prepared the things that would be needed on Halloween holiday, like candies and the most important one – the mask. Carly went to the gifts store. It was too late and it was dark outside, but, fortunately, the store was open.

Carly went into the store. She looked at many kinds of masks but they were not scary at all. Carly needed to select the scariest one because she had had a big decision, that is, to scare the two bad boys. Suddenly Carly saw a scary one. That mask was totally different from others. The boss of the store said sorry to Carly again and again, but Carly didn’t know why. Finally she bought it from the store.

Carly put on the mask and held the “head of Carly” which was a sculpture her mom gave her as a gift. She came outside to play trick or treat and got many kinds of candies. Soon she met the two boys who really liked to play jokes on her. Carly hid beside the road. When the two boys came near, she jumped out of the forest and scared them. At this time the “head of Carly” said, “Help me! Help me!” The two boys were frightened at once. Carly was very happy because she scared the two boys successfully.

When Carly went home and tried to take off the mask, she was surprised that she couldn’t take the mask off. She asked Sabrina for help but Sabrina said that she couldn’t find the string of the mask. Carly screamed again. She could understand why the boss kept saying sorry to her. She hurried to the store and asked the boss for help. The boss felt helpless, “I told you it was not for sale. It is not a mask. It’s a real face. If you put it on, you would have no way to take it off.” Carly began to scream, terrified.

How could she take off the mask? The answer of the shop’s boss was “a symbol of love”. Because Carly shouted and shouted loudly, the other faces all woke up and began to smile evilly at Carly and Carly became more scared. Carly screamed again and quickly ran away. She ran around and tried to hit those faces. The faces followed her out of the shop.

Carly thought of the meaning of “the symbol of love” again and again. Finally she found her own face discarded on the ground lonely. Carly picked it up and said to the faces, “I don’t want to scare people any longer, including those two naughty boys. I only want to be a nice girl. ”

In that way, Carly took off the mask easily and she became a nice girl again.
