背景介绍：
这首诗据说弗莱伊在1932年为她的一位德籍犹太裔朋友玛格利特.舒瓦兹科普夫写的这首诗。玛格利特此前一直在担心她远在德国生病的母亲，而愈演愈烈的反犹太运动使她难于与母亲团聚，当她得知母亲去世的消息后，她告诉玛丽.弗莱伊她无法到母亲墓前悲悼了。
弗莱伊写了这首诗，作为对逝者的吊唁。正如弗莱伊当年创作这首小诗给朋友以力量，希望这首诗能给我们以鼓舞和安慰，令我们更加坚强。
