In some countries, parents expect their children to spend long time studying both in and after school and have less free time. What are the positive and negative effects on children and society they live in?
What are the positive and negative development是所有题型中最简单的,因为一定是“双边支持”型,只需要一段写积极影响,一段写消极影响就可以了。

积极影响:1、提高学生的学习成绩,从而促进社会经济的发展。(即教育的功能);
Today’s children are living under more pressure from the society than children in the past as they are often pushed to study hard both in and after school. Despite some benefits that might be produced, I tend to believe this trend brings more drawbacks to children and society.
Admittedly, children spending most of time on academic study are more likely to lay a sound foundation for their higher education in the future. And as one country’s development and prosperity is closely related to its young generation’s talents, young children with comprehensive knowledge tend to make more contribution to the sustainable development of community. Besides, to have a good command of some subjects like physics and mathematics requires a lot of time and attention, therefore, children who spend the majority of their time on these subjects are more likely to develop interest in these courses and make remarkable achievements, both of which will inspire them to delve deeper in related fields in the future.
However, the negative impact of this situation should never be overlooked. First, young students might easily develop diseases like obesity, diabetes or myopia due to lack of sufficient physical exercise. For instance, an increasing number of primary school students nowadays have to wear glasses in order to see the blackboard more clearly, partly because they do not keep correct postures while studying and their eyes lack of enough rest. Secondly, children who are pushed to spend most of them time on study are less likely to develop hobbies or interests. As many pupils or secondary school students are gifted with music talents or painting skills, they could have gained more fulfillments in the field they are good at had they been given more time and practice during their spare time. Also, some adolescents might skip schools as they take no interest in the classes they are obliged to attend and could develop bad habits or even reduce to juvenile delinquents. Moreover, research findings reveal that, compared with students who focus on nothing but academic study,those students who actively participate in extracurricular activities in school are more likely to develop interpersonal skills which will make them more independent and confident when they work in the society.
In conclusion, this education situation can produce some positive effects to children and society to some extent. Nevertheless, the problems which weigh against the versatile development of adolescents and cultivation of qualified citizens of society should never be ignored. Therefore, governments and parents should be fully aware of the severe consequences and measures should be taken to reverse this situation.
