    袁江，1662年生，1735年逝世，苏江都（扬州）人。字文涛，晚号岫泉。雍正间曾供奉内廷。专业画家，曾一度进入宫廷。他的从子袁耀也是画家，在乾隆时曾进过“如意馆”（相当于宫廷画院）。他们两人曾受扬州的山西盐商的聘请，到山西作画，在北方流传较多。他擅画山水、楼台、师法宋人。山水画主要学宋代闫次平，画石多鬼脸皴，楼阁主要学郭忠恕，工整严密。他的绘画素材多为古代宫苑，尤长于界画。界画是我国民族绘画中很有特色的一门画科，它在东晋时代已同人物、山水画并存了，发展到宋、元时期就已达到高峰，但一直受到文人画的排挤。明代界画家很少，清代成就最高的当属二袁（袁江与其子袁耀）。
    袁亦善花鸟、蔬果、走兽。存世作品有《沉香亭图》、《梁园飞雪图》、《夏木深阴图》等。《沉香亭图》，纵197.5厘米，横121.2厘米。现藏天津艺术博物馆。此幅绢本设色界画，描绘的是唐明皇和杨贵妃游乐的地方。画面远景写一片突兀起伏的高山，其势巍巍高耸，险峻而庄重。近景是山下一座宽大的庭院。地上三座殿堂平行整齐地排列着，殿堂间一块宽敞的平地中央坐落着一精巧典雅的亭子，这就是沉香亭。亭中一群奴仆正在侍奉两人听曲纵乐，这想必就是唐玄宗与杨玉环。除此之外，院内参差错落许多树木，松柏苍劲挺拔，垂柳婀娜多姿，桃李争艳，玉兰吐蕊，一派盎然春色。这幅画很好地体现了作者严谨工整的画风，显示了他高深的艺术和超凡的功力。
    袁江长于山水楼阁，精湛绚丽，能粗能细。初学仇十洲，中年继而临摹古人画，在传统基础上创出自己的新路。生活在康熙年间。他后半生受当时在扬州的山西盐商之聘，同他的从子袁耀到山西运河作画，作品流传在北方较多。其山水主要学宋代阎次平；画石多鬼面皴；楼阁主要学郭忠恕，工整严密。后期多画古代宫苑图，如《梁园飞雪图》、该图以枚乘、江淹的梁园、兔园赋为依据，极尽宫苑之壮丽。另画《东园胜概图》卷，此图用长卷形式，界画精亚，建筑物比例适当，树石形态若真，山影波光，层次深远。《东园胜概图》为其代表作。还有《汉宫秋月图》等。
    袁耀（生卒年未详），字昭道，江都（今江苏扬州）人。袁江之侄。工画山水、楼阁、界画。画风工整、华丽，与袁江相似。其精有胜于袁江者。偶作花鸟，亦甚佳。乾隆十一年作《骊山避夏十二景》，乾隆四十五年作《阿房宫图》，现藏南京博物院。约活动于乾隆中期。

    袁江，生年不详，卒于约1746年，清代画家。字文涛，晚号岫泉，江苏江都(今扬州)人。擅画山水、楼台。初学仇英，中年得无款古人画稿，遂吸取宋人画法。所作景物，曲折有致，为清代界画高手。曾偕子耀被盐商尉姓聘至山西太原作画多年。传世作品有《东园图》《梁园飞雪图》《水殿春深图》。图中远山连绵起伏，近处江面辽阔，波涛汹涌，江上船只往来。岸边，树木浓密阴郁，楼阁台榭临江于山石之上。用笔工细，幽雅华丽，体现了袁江山水画和界画的风格。
