A group of alumni,highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor.

一帮毕业生，在自己的领域各有成就之后，一起去拜访他们的大学教授。

Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

很快大家的谈话内容变成了对生活以及工作压力的抱怨。

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups : porcelain,plastic,glass,some plain-looking and some expensive and exquisite,telling them to help themselves to hot coffee.

教授招待他们喝咖啡，去了厨房端出来一大壶热咖啡和一堆各式各样的杯子：瓷的，塑料的，玻璃的，有些看起来不怎么好看，有些看起来名贵又精致。教授让他们自己倒咖啡喝。

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand ,the professor said,"if you noticed ,all the nice-looking,expensive cups were taken up,leaving behind the plain and cheap ones."

当所有的学生手里都端着一杯咖啡时，教授开口了：“不知道你们注意到没，所有好看的名贵的杯子都被拿走了，剩下的都是些不好看的廉价的杯子。”

"While it is but normal for you to want only the best for yourselves,that is the source of your problems and stress."

“尽管对你们来说希望自己拿到最好是很正常的，但这正是你们的问题与压力的根源。”

"What all of you really wanted was coffee , not the cup ,but you consciously went for the better cups and are eyeing each other's cups."

“你们真正想要的是咖啡，不是杯子，但你们有意识的去拿更好些的杯子，并且还同时相互观察其他人手中的杯子。”

"Now,if life is coffee,then the jobs,money and position in society are the cups.They are just tools for hold and contain life,but the quality of Life doesn't change.Sometimes,by concentrating only on the cup ,we fail to enjoy the coffee in it."

“其实，如果生活是咖啡，那么工作、金钱、社会中的地位就是杯子。这些只是用来承载生活的工具，但生活本身的品质并没有改变。有时候我们太过注重于杯子，以至于无法安心享用其中的咖啡。”

"So don't let the cups drives you...enjoy the coffee instead."

“所以不要受到杯子的诱惑，享受生活吧。”
