Caroline Bessey

CAROL INE BESSEY
Born in Wigan, Lancashire, Caroline studied art, further specialising in ceramics
at Lancashire Polytechnic, gaining a Distinction award in 1986. Caroline is inspired by
current trends and styles and has worked for Dunoon since 1987 and, although she is
devoted to designing fabulous coffee and tea mugs, Caroline does not drink either of them!

Jane Fern

JANE FERN
Born and bred in Stoke-on-Trent, Jane always had an interest in drawing and painting
from an early age when she was encouraged and inspired by her family. After gaining
a degree in Graphics and Illustration in Manchester, Jane specialised in painting flowers for books and commissions. Having worked on a freelance basis for many years, Jane is currently working in-house producing detailed watercolour studies.

Emma Ball

From Nottingham, Emma trained in Graphic Design at Nottingham University. After
college her first business was designing and hand stencilling plant pots, but since 1999
Emma has been illustrating and painting watercolours. Travel is her inspiration and

Jack Dadd
他是 DUNOON 创始人 Gordon 的老朋友，DUNOON 当年出品的第一批杯子的杯型就出自他之手。到目前为止，他所设计的几款经典的杯型，仍是 DUNOON 最畅销杯的。
Jack first met Gordon at Staffordshire Potteries and worked with him to develop the
very first Dunoon mug ranges - a working relationship that lasted many years.
Jack designed the ever popular Richmond and Glencoe mug shapes and created
innovative glaze effects in the early collections alongside many patterns. Still in the
collection today are Jack’s Glencoe ‘Zodiac’ mugs.

Caroline Dadd

After working as design manager at Royal Doulton, Caroline took over her father
Jack’s business and was able to continue working with Dunoon on mug designs,
graphic and packaging projects. She interprets many artists’ work from Monet to
Van Gogh including the Gustav Klimt inspired mugs, and creates the fun, fact-filled
Informative Glencoe mugs.

Jane Brookshaw

Born in Wrexham, Jane now lives close to her childhood home. She takes inspiration

‘Gift of the Year’ award in 1994 for her ‘Animal Farm’ and in 1996, Review of the Year
Table Top Category ‘Winner’ for Moggies and Doggies!

Michèle Aubourg

Born in Durban, Kwa Zulu-Natal, South Africa and still living there, Michèle’s mother

from nature, flora and fauna, colour, books, fabric, fashion and beautiful things! When
she is not creating beautiful artworks, Michèle is an animal lover, with a border collie,
three cats and an appaloosa horse to keep her busy!

Cherry Denman

Married to a diplomat, Cherry has been fortunate to live all around the world whilst
remaining quintessentially English. Currently living in China, Cherry studied fine art in
Oxford, then after a career in publishing in London, she spent many years illustrating
children’s books.Working with Dunoon for around 30 years, Cherry takes inspiration
from everyday events all around and constantly takes notes. She loves the challenge
of varied projects life brings her way.

David Broadhurst

Born and bred in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, after training in Ceramics, David

by classic art and design (ie Greek, Roman, etc.) and receives a lot of
commissions for commemorative designs such as the Queen’s Jubilee.

Sue Scullard

Sue has always loved illustrated books and after a BA (Hons) in Illustration at
Camberwell Art College followed by an MA in Graphic Design at the Royal
College of Art, Sue has had a successful career as an illustrator. Inspirations for
her work come from Victorian watercolours, wood engravings and her love of
Christmas themed art has made her the ideal choice for Dunoon’s annual dated
mug and plate series! Sue has worked with Dunoon since 1983.

Aileen Morley

love of floral designs, particularly printed textiles, can be seen across her designs.

Richard Partis

Born in Bath in Somerset, Richard lived in Wiltshire until 2004 when he moved to an
old farmhouse in the Tamar Valley in Cornwall. An interest in natural history led
Richard to draw in detail wildlife and nature subjects. He received a BA Hons in
Graphic Design from Bath Academy of Art. Working with Dunoon for over 23 years
his rural surroundings are his inspiration for his natural history designs and the
technical subjects of cars and aircraft are inspired by their beauty and history.

Kate Mawdsley

Kate was born in Lancashire and lived in London for 20 years where she studied
Fashion and Textiles at Middlesex University. After working in the fashion industry,
Kate specialised in illustration and has been involved with Dunoon for 20 years,
exploring subjects and different styles of artwork to keep her designs fresh
and exciting.
