PEP四年级上Unit 5 What would you like?

Part B Let’s Learn

Teaching aims and requirements:

1. Set a situation about going to the kitchen, then enable students to use the sentence patterns: Can I help? Yes. Pass me a plate, please.

2. Enable students to grasp the key words: plate, spoon, chopsticks, knife and fork.

3. Try to learn the chant, know how to tidy the tools in the kitchen.

4. Introduce the culture about knife,fork and chopsticks.

Teaching key points and difficult points:

1. Grasp the pattern fluently by using the pictures of animals.

2. Practice the key words by acting these animals with body language.

3. Know the cultural meaning of the words: cat, pig, bear, dog.

Teaching tools:

5. Tape, bread, tools of plate, spoon, chopsticks, knife and fork.

Teaching methods:

Audio-lingual method, Communicative method.

Teaching steps:

Step 1: Warm-up

1. T: Hello,class. Nice to meet you.

Ss: Hi, Miss Wang. Nice to meet you, too.

T: Look, what’s in the box?

Ss: Wow, it’s a big bread.

T: Yes, I want to divide it to all of you. What can I do?

Ss: You can use a knife.

T: Great. But where is the knife?

T: There is a bag on the teacher’s desk. What’s in it?

(设计意图:教师通过设计切分面包的话题 引出用餐的情境,导入新课,激发学生的学习积极性。)

Step 2: Presentation

1. Introduce these 5 key words.

T: What’s this?

Ss: It’s a knife.

T: What else? Listen to the tape carefully.

Ss: It’s a plate, spoon, chopsticks, knife and fork.

T: Terrific! How can we spell these words?

Ss: Spell the words one by one.

T: Look. Here are some pictures about food. Do you know what kind of tool should we choose?

S1: Here’s a bowl of rice. Give me a spoon.

S2: Here’s some beef. Give me a knife and a fork.

S3: Here’s some bread. Pass me a knife.

S4: Here’s a bowl of noodles. Pass me a pair of chopsticks.

T: Look, here are some tools.

2. Listen and repeat:

T: Now, open your books and turn to page 61. Let’s listen and repeat. (Teacher plays the tape of the words.)

Ss: Try to follow what they hear.

(设计意图:教师通过摸一摸、猜一猜、说一说的游戏引出新授单词,然后通过多媒体呈现实物图片,让学生结合生活选择合适的餐具,再跟读录音,准确掌握单词的发音,养成良好的听音习惯。)

Step 3: Practice

1. Listen and repeat:

T: Now, open your books and turn to page 61. Let’s listen and repeat. (Teacher plays the tape of the words.)

Ss: Try to follow what they hear.

2. Let’s chant.

Give me a spoon.  Pass me a fork.

Wash the plates.  Use the chopsticks.  Cut with the knife.

(设计意图:听录音来学习儿歌中的语音和语调,外加动作的辅助,学生学习兴趣浓厚,积极性高,参与性强。)
Step 4: Production

1. Tidy the kitchen.

T: Here are some tools in the kitchen. How can we tidy the kitchen?

There is a plate, spoon, chopsticks, knife and fork on the table.

S:  Pass me a plate. Put it in the cupboard.

Pass me a fork. Put it in the cupboard.

Pass me a knife. Put it in the cupboard.

Pass me a spoon. Put it in the cupboard.

Pass me a pair of chopsticks. Put it in the cupboard.

Culture: (1) knife: In western countries, a knife is usually used to eat beef. People put the knife in their left hand.

         (2) fork: In western countries, a fork is usually used when people have meals. Usually people put the fork in their right hand.

         (3) plate: Plate is widely used in people’s life.

         (4) chopsticks: In China, people usually use chopsticks to eat their meals, especially when they are eating noodles.

 (设计意图:通过文化意识的渗透,让孩子懂得就餐时如何正确使用餐具,并懂得餐具摆放不同位置,含义也不同。刀叉是西方饮食文化的著名标志,更是西方礼仪文化的重要组成部分。西餐宴会上女主人是第一顺序,女主人不坐,别人是不能坐的,女主人把餐巾铺在腿上就说明大家可以开始。倒过来说,女主人要把餐巾放在桌子上了,是宴会结束的标志。

西餐与中餐相比,西餐礼仪的繁琐复杂可不仅仅是筷子和刀叉的区别。

西餐正餐一般有刀叉而且不止一副,往往是两三副,一般是左刀右叉西餐的刀叉取用它有讲究的。取西餐的刀有个最省事的游戏规则:吃一道菜换一副刀叉。一般有三副叉,分别吃色拉、吃海鲜、吃主菜。三副叉按照顺序由外侧向内侧取,先拿最外面那一副,最外面那副刀叉是吃色拉的,然后再拿中间这副,中间这副一般吃海鲜的,最后再拿最里面这一副,最里面这副吃主要吃菜的,一般带齿,吃牛排的。吃了一半饭的话,刀叉怎么放有讲究的。正跟中国人吃饭拿筷子指着别人是不礼貌的一样,西餐的刀叉是不能指人的。而且西餐刀叉切的时候有讲究,左手和右手肘关节这个地方应该正好夹在腰的两侧,这样控制你的切割的动作,你别跟木匠似的,那噪音都让人烦。它有一个讲究,你要是跟别人交谈的话,刀叉在盘子上放成汉字的字,刀刃朝内,不能朝外,叉子是弓朝上,齿朝下。这个动作就是告诉服务生和别人,我这个菜没吃完。你千万不要把它并排放,如果刀叉并排放,刀刃朝内,叉齿朝上,代表的意思就是不吃了,收掉。

一般而言,西餐的汤匙会有好几副,勺子该放在右手的刀的外侧,它大概会有两把或者三把,如果有两把汤勺其中一把用来喝汤,一把吃甜品,若有三把的话是用来喝红茶、喝咖啡的。无论喝什么,勺子的几个用法要注意,第一它也是要从外侧向内侧取的。第二,勺子是不能含在嘴里的。第三,勺子不用的时候不能在杯子里面立正,不用的话让它平躺在盘子上。)

Step 5: Sum-up and homework

We’ve known that people in different countries use different tools to eat, we should remember the background of them and the customs when we have meals with foreigners.

Homework:

(1)Listen to the tape, read and remember these words.

(2)Find these tools in your kitchen and talk them with your family.
