据新华社电 加拿大弗雷德里克顿市居民近期常看到一名年轻女性戴着墨镜，在街道上唱歌。这名女子去年因感染鸽粪所带病菌，导致永久性失明。她通过歌声提醒人们注意：鸽子可能带来疾病。

    埃丽卡·理查兹现年24岁，患病前住在一间阁楼堆积着鸽粪的房屋中。她入住后身体出现不适，还莫名偏头痛。“我不能躺，不能坐，需要颈部按摩；不能吃，反而一直呕吐；视觉出现紊乱，越来越看不清楚；听觉也出了问题”。

    医生随后确诊理查兹患上隐球菌脑膜炎，她的视力可能永远无法恢复。

    隐球菌脑膜炎主要损害中枢神经系统，可能导致人的脑膜发生致命性肿胀，一般由寄居在鸽子或其他鸟类内脏中的隐球菌引发。人类如果暴露在鸽粪环境中，可能会感染这种病菌。

    现在，理查兹每月领135加元（约合135.9美元）的残疾津贴，常在弗雷德里克顿的街道旁唱歌，以引起人们对隐球菌脑膜炎的关注，顺便赚点小钱。她下月将前往一所由加拿大国家盲人协会资助的盲人高中就读。

    鸽子身上携带不少致病菌，比如衣原体和沙门氏菌，致病隐患不容小觑。

    理查兹希望自己的失明经历引人警醒，为此在街道旁唱歌，让人们了解接触鸽子粪的风险。
