乌兰浩特车站建于1931年，车站距离白城火车站87公里，隶属沈阳铁路局白城车务段，是二等站 。每日有始发至北京、天津、沈阳北、长春、哈尔滨、呼和浩特、大连、白城等地的旅客列车，白阿铁路、锡乌铁路平面接入该站，是兴安盟地区最大的火车站。

乌兰浩特车站原名王爷庙火车站。当时仅有一座95平方米的简易站房和一座300平方米的铁皮货物仓库，有职工27人。1950年更名为乌兰浩特火车站。

2008年改建后的乌兰浩特火车站采用左右对称设计，蓝白主色及圆形尖顶，更具蒙藏文化风情。

除乌兰浩特火车站外，还有乌兰浩特北站和乌兰浩特西站。目前北站只办理货运业务，西站于2016年9月开工，2018年7月末完成全部工程。
