英语智力题解题策略

IQ题在整套试卷中虽然只占5分，但5分的得失却可以使芸芸考生拉开距离，因为人们常说，“考试多一分，压倒一个军”。正如普通智力题一样，英语智力题也是有规律的；但与普通智力题不同，英语智力题必须运用已有的英语知识解决同样或类似的问题。为了帮助考生在做英语智力题时心中有数、胸有成竹，现结合具体考例，就英语IQ题及其解题策略作如下归纳。

 

一、常识题

这类考题一般都应从生活常识的角度去分析和考虑，并不需要作高深的探究，但也不能被牵着鼻子走。

例如：How long does it take to boil two eggs if it takes four and a half minutes to boil one egg?

不少考生的答案是：Nine minutes. 理由是煮一个鸡蛋要4.5分钟，2个鸡蛋则需9分钟。其实，2个鸡蛋一起煮也是4.5分钟。像这种简单的生活常识题，考生不能让人牵着鼻子走，否则因把简单的题目看得过于复杂而丢分就太可惜了。又如：How many angles （角） are left if one angle is cut from a square （方形的） table? 此题答案是：Five (angles). 但有同学回答：Three (angles). 根据常识一张方形桌子，切去一个角，应该有5个角，而不是4 - 1 = 3。

 

二、语言知识题

这类题常常是考查考生的语言知识和应变能力，有时要从句子本身或字形上分析，有时还涉及会意。

如：What is the distance between the first letter and the last letter of “smiles”?

此题答案是：One mile. 问的是smiles这个单词中，第一个字母和最后一个字母之间的距离有多长，即除去第一个和最后一个字母s，剩下的是mile。又如：What appears once in every minute, twice in every moment, but not once in thousand years? 此题答案为：The letter “m”. 问的是在minute中出现一次，moment中出现两次，而在thousand years中却一次也不出现的是什么？考生如果仅从字面意思上理解，就会误以为题目是问：每分钟出现一次、每一会儿出现两次，数千年却不出现的是什么？那问题就复杂了，答案也无从探究。

 

三、数学推理题

能力竞赛题中常常会出现数学知识（或叫数学推理）题，解题时需要运用到一定的数学知识。命题形式可能是图表形式，也可能是提问形式。

如：How many minutes is it before 12 noon, if 48 minutes ago it was twice as many minutes past 9 a.m.?

 这是一道难度不小的数学推理题，答案为：44 minutes. 因为12点整的44分钟前为11:16，而11:16的48分钟前为10:28；9:00 + (44 × 2) = 10:28. 有时还要运用到几何或代数知识，

如：Find the ages of Mary, George, Alice, Claire and Stephen if the sum of the ages of two of them all as follows：Mary + George = 33 years; Alice + Claire= 95 years; Stephen + Mary = 72 years; Mary+ Claire= 87 years; Stephen + George = 73 years. 此题可用代数法求出答案，即分别用5个字母代替题中的5个人写出等式：A + B = 33; C + D = 95; E + A = 72; A + D = 87; E + B = 73可以求得：A = 16；B = 17；C = 24；D = 71；E = 56。

当然，不管IQ题以何种形式出现，考查的都是智力题与英语知识的结合。只要考生掌握其中的奥妙与技巧，运用适当的方法，IQ题再难也可以迎刃而解。

英语智力题及答案

1. Which one of the following five is least like the other four?

A,Cat –B. Lion –C. Dog – D.Turtle – E.Elephant

这道题很简单，cat （猫）、 lion（狮子）、Dog（狗）和elephant（大象）都是哺乳动物mammal，而turtle，乌龟是在海滩上下了乌龟蛋，然后埋好再孵化的，因此是卵生动物。所以应该选D，乌龟！

2．If you rearrange the letters UGRUAYU, you would have the name of a:

River - Country - City - Animal - Plant

Uruguay，南美洲国家，南非足球世界杯“四强”， 首届足球世界杯冠军，这道题的答案应该是B国家country.

3.A car is to gas as coffee maker is to:

Water - Coffee - Electricity - Warming plate - Plastic

答案：Coffee maker可不是做咖啡的人，它是咖啡壶的意思，car是需要gas才能开动的，而咖啡壶是需要coffee才能作出香甜可口的咖啡的，所以选择B，coffee。

 

4.Which one of the following five is least like the other four?

Horse - Zebra - Deer - Moose - Eland

答案是A。上面提到的5种动物中，除了马之外，其余四种都是野生的动物，所以应该选择Horse，马。

5.If you rearrange the letters NLIRBE, you would have the name of a

River - Country - City - Animal - Plant

答案是City。如果你对字母不是很熟悉，那么得需要点时间来重新组合这些字母。这道题的答案是Berlin，柏林，德国的首都。所以，应该选择City，它是一个城市。

6.Which word is least like the others?

ROSE - DELIVERER - RABBIT - HIGHWAY - HORSE

答案是HIGHWAY，ROSE（玫瑰）、RABBIT （白兔）、DELIVERER（搬运工）与HORSE（马）都是有生命的东西，因此唯一的一个不同类的单词就是HIGHWAY-高速公路。

7.If you rearrange the letters in “GOICCHA”, you get a name of a/an:

答案是E，大家不要被图形中间的字母与数字迷惑，而忽略了最重要的一点—E图的底下比其他四幅图多了一条横线。

答案是Munich（慕尼黑），这道题考的是你的地理知识，雅加达是印度尼西亚的首都，德黑兰是印度首都，马德里是西班牙的首都，而慕尼黑虽然是世界闻名的大城市，但却不是德国的首都，德国的首都是柏林。因此应该选Munich（慕尼黑）。

11.Select the answer-pair that expresses a relationship most similar to that expressed in the capitalized pair. STATE - CONFEDERACY ?

apple - tree ，address - envelope ，binoculars - sight ，soldier - army

答案是soldier - army（战士-军队），原搭配中的前一个单词从属于后一个单词，因此各答案中只有soldier - army（战士-军队）的搭配是最贴切的。
