Unit 2 What’s your favorite festival?

教学目标:

a. 知识目标:

1. Enable to introduce some important festivals of China and western countries.

2. Enable to grasp the new words and sentences.

3. To teach students to know more custom and culture of different countries. It’s good for their studying and using English.

b.能力目标:

交流自己对节日的喜好。

c.情感目标:

注重文化意识,让学生加深对本国文化的认识,了解中西在节日文化上的差异,培养学生的跨文化意识,调动学生参与语言实践的积极性。

文化意识:

简单了解世界各国不同的节日文化.

教学重点:

1. Enable to grasp the sentences of “It’s a very important festival.”

2. Enable to grasp the new words: present,

3. Enable to introduce some important festivals of China and western countries.

教学难点:

1. Enable to describe the customs of Christmas and other festivals.

2. To use the words of months to introduce the festivals well.

教学过程:

Step 1: Warming up

1. Sing an English song: We wish you a happy Christmas.

2. Greetings

(设计意图:韵律诗,歌曲等都是学生喜闻乐见的课堂形式,课前齐唱英语歌曲,既可以活跃课堂气氛,又能使学生尽快进入角色,同时通过简单的几句问候,让学生立刻融入到英语学习的氛围中,无形中拉近了师生之间的距离。)

Step 2: Presentation

1.       Ask and answer:

T: Here are some pictures of festival.Look, What are they?

Look at the first picture. What festival is it?

S1: It’s Halloween.

T: When is it?

S2: It’s in October.

T: Yes, that’s true. So we can say “… is in ….” Can you tell me the exactly date?

Teacher leads the students try to say out “… is ...”

T: What do people do on …?

Ss: They wear scary clothes and masks. They go to people’s houses. They say “Whooooooo…… …… “ People give children sweets.

用同样的方法复习Eastern Children’s DayThanksgiving Day

(设计意图: 利用多媒体向学生展示以前学过的节日,这一环节可以让学生巩固所学知识,也为新知的的学习埋下伏笔,开拓了学生的视野。)

2. T: Please watch the TV. I’ll show some pictures for you? What are they? Tell me in English as quickly as you can!

Ss: Christmas tree, Christmas card, presents,

T: Look, who is he? He is Santa Clouse, people also call him “Father Christmas”.

T: Do you like Christmas?

Ss: Of course

T: I like Christmas, too. It’s a very important festival. Today we are going to learn what people do on Christmas in many countries.

(设计意图: 让学生看有关圣诞节的相关图片,图片比文字更能吸引学生的注意力,所以在图片出示的过程中教授有关圣诞节物品的单词,这样学生就会兴趣昂然。)

Step 3: Teach the text

a) Listen to the tape with several questions

T: Before we listen to the text, I’ll give you some questions about it. You should give me the answers after listening. OK?

Q1: When is Christmas?

Q2: What do people put in their homes?

Q3: What can you see in the street?

Q4: What do people give?

Q5: What do people send?

2. Lead students to answer these questions.

T: When is Christmas?      S1: It’s on the 25th of December

T: What do people put in their homes?   S2: Christmas tree

T: What can you see in the street?    S3: We can see a lot of lights.

T: What do people give?        S4: They give presents.

T: What do people send?       S5:They send cards.

T: Super!

(设计意图:让学生通过回答问题来加深对课文内容的理解,同时加强学生听说能力的训练。)

3.Listen again and learn the sentence.

T: Now let’s listen again, then repeat. (Teacher plays the CD-ROM or the cassette).

(设计意图: 让学生整体感受对话,训练其听的能力,在大量听的输入后,为其输出表达最好准备。)

Step 4. Practice         

a) Make sentences. (Rearrange the sentences)

Teacher prepares some word cards of the text, then give them to the students in different groups.

T: Now make sentences with the word cards I gave you in groups. After 1 minitu we’ll check up together.

Students of Group 1say out the words one by one: about, you, tell, can, christmas, me,?

Then read out the correct sentence they make: Can you tell me about Christmas?

Just like this to practice the sentences:

1) It’s a very important festival in many countries.

2) It’s on the 25th of December

3) People put special trees in their homes.

4) There are lights in the streets and shops.

5) We give presents and send cards.

b) Game: 看图说话

c) Read the dialogue in different roles.

(设计意图: 教学手段要灵活多变,才能避免学生学习过程中产生枯燥感。用连词成句,看图说话操练所学内容,做到当堂学习、当堂巩固。)

Step 5. Consolidation

1.T:In China, what festival is the same as Christmas?

Ss:Spring Festival.

T:Super.Look at the screen and see what we do in the Spring Festival?

The Spring Festival is a very important festival in China. It’s in January or February. People paste spring poems (贴春联) and eat dumplings. We shoot firecrekers(放鞭炮) at night. We get “Lucky money”(压岁钱). We wear new clothes. We love it.

(设计意图: 让学生观看课件,进一步了解中国春节与圣诞节不同的文化习俗,拓宽了学生的知识面)

T: Look at the CAI about other two festivals.

(Use the same way to teach: Dragon-Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival)

(设计意图: 先让学生整体感知三个节日的名称及时间,再进一步学习节日习俗的表达)

2.Make a survay

T: Now let’s make a survey----What’s your favorite festival? To investigate your friend, write down what is his or her favorite festival and why.

(设计意图:在语言操练足够的条件下,让学生在更为开放的模式下操练、使用所学过的内容。在任务型教学思想的指导下,给学生提供一张信息表,让学生在正式的情境中使用自己学到的知识,开展调查make a survey,以真正实现新课标中所提出的让学生学到语言知识后“能做什么”的目的。 )
