Course Overview

This course is intended to provide an introduction to psychological researches on human attachment. It will focus on love and attachment. The course is the study of the underpinnings of love and the ways from infant attachment to adult attachment.

Course Textbook

 Cassidy，J. & Shaver, P.R. Handbook of attachment: Theory, research, and clinical applications.  New York: Guilford, 2008.

Course Requirements

Grades will be based equally on attending the course, contribution to discussions, and a research proposal. The paper should be approximately 5-10 pages in length (excluding references). The purpose of the paper is to write a research proposal based on the material presented in class and a portfolio of real-world examples. It should include a literature review on the chosen topic, and the proposed study should make a novel contribution to the field. You may apply it to your own area of research if you’d like, although you may not propose a study that you are already doing in your study.
