动名词做主语的用法：

动名词做主语往往表示经常性、习惯性的动作(在口语中也可以表示具体的作)，谓语动词采用单数。其他主语是由不定式、从句构成的，谓语动词也采用单数。

1. Working with you is pleasant.

2. Seeing is believing. 眼见为实。

3. Getting up early is a good habit. 早起是个好习惯。

4. Finding work is difficult these days. 现今找工作可不容易。

5. Helping her is my duty. 帮助她是我的责任。

动名词作主语时，句子有两种形式：

①动名词直接置于句首主语的位置上。如：

1). Playing tricks on others is something we should never do. 

捉弄别人是我们万万不能干的。

2). Talking is easier than doing. 说比做容易。

②用it作形式主语，把真正的主语——动名词结构移置句尾。但这种句子形式有一定的限制，作表语的只能是某些形容词或少数名词，如:

 It is useless/worth/no good/no use/no sense doing sth.等，如：

1.  It is useless trying to argue with Shylock. 和夏洛克争辩是没有什么用的。

2.  It’ s no sense arguing with her. 和她争吵没有意思。

3. It’s no use saying any more about it. 再谈这事没有用It’s fun working for him. 为他工作很有意思。

4. It’s great fun sailing a boat. 扬帆驾舟十分有趣。

5. It’s no use shouting at him—he’s deaf. 向他叫喊是没有用的——他耳聋。

6. It has been a great honour your coming to visit us. 你来看望我们是极大荣幸。

7. It is useless speaking. 光说没有用。

8. It was pleasant sitting there. 坐在那里很愉快。

9. It’s so nice sitting here with you. 和你坐在一起真是愉快。

10.       It’s good hearing English spoken. 听到人讲英语，我很高兴。

11.       It’s terribly tiring working late like this. 这样干到深夜是非常累人的。

12.       It’s worth while doing the work. 这项工作值得做。

13.       Do you think it’s worth while quarrelling with me? 你认为和我吵值得吗?
