在英语中，有不少动词后面既可以接不定式，又可以接动名词，而且在意思上没有区别，如begin, start。但有些动词后面接不定式和接动名词在意思上却大相径庭，如stop, forget, remember。下面就给大家集中展示一下。

　　A. stop用法展示

　　1) stop to do sth. 停止下来，去做另一件事。如：

　　We are tired. Let's stop to have a rest. 我们累了，我们停下来歇会儿吧。

　　2) stop doing sth. 停止正在做的事。如:

　　“Stop talking, please. Let's sing an English song.” said the teacher.“不要说话了，让我们唱支英文歌曲吧。”老师说。

　　提示板： stop 用法一句清。

　　When the teacher came in, the students stopped talking; when the teacher went out , the students stopped to talk. 老师走进来时，学生们停止说话；老师走出去时，学生们又停下来开始说话了。

　　B. forget用法展示

　　1) forget to do sth. 忘记要做某事如：

　　Don't forget to turn off the light when you leave. 你离开时不要忘记关灯。

　The light in the office is still on. He forgot to turn it off.
 办公室的灯还在亮着，它忘记关了。(没有做关灯的动作)

　2) forget doing sth. 忘记已经做了某事。如：

I forgot telling him about it. 我忘记了曾把这件事告诉过他。

He forgot turning the light off.  他忘记他已经关了灯了。  ( 已做过关灯的动作)
 Don't forget to come tomorrow. 别忘了明天来。 (to come动作未做)

　　Boss: Oh, dear! I forgot to attend the important meeting.

　　Secretary: But you have attended it.

　　C. remember用法展示

　　1) remember to do sth. 记住要做某事。如：

Remember to post the letter for me.记住给我邮这封信。

Remember to go to the post office after school. 记着放学后去趟邮局。

2) remember doing sth. 记得做过某事。如：

　Don't you remember seeing the man before?  你不记得以前见过那个人吗?　

I remember seeing him once. 我记得见过他一次。

　　提示板：学个对话，记住remember。

　　A: Remember to invite Tom to your birthday party. 记住邀请汤姆参加你的生日聚会。

　　B: I remembered inviting him this morning, but he was too busy to come.我记得今天上午邀请过他了，可他太忙不能来了。

　　再次提醒：上述动词后面接不定式和接动名词意思大不相同，要铭记在心哦！

D． regret doing/to do 
  
regret to do  对要做的事遗憾。     (未做)
regret doing  对做过的事遗憾、后悔。  (已做)
  I regret to have to do this, but I have no choice.
我很遗憾必须这样去做，我实在没有办法。
  I don't regret telling her what I thought. 
我不为告诉她我的想法而后悔。

答案：D。regret having done sth. 对已发生的事感到遗憾。regret to do sth. 对将要做的事感到遗憾。本题为对已说的话感到后悔，因此选D。

E． try doing/to do 

try to do  努力，企图做某事。  try doing  试验，试着做某事。  

You must try to be more careful.  你可要多加小心。 

I tried gardening but didn't succeed. 我试着种果木花卉，但未成功。     

F． mean to doing/to do   

mean to do  打算、想  mean doing 意味着 

 I mean to go, but my father would not allow me to.  我想去，但是我父亲不肯让我去。 

 To raise wage means increasing purchasing power.  赠加工资意味着增加购买力。
