As a discovery claim works its way through the community, the interaction and confrontation between shared and competing beliefs about the science and the technology involved transforms an individual’s discovery claim into the community’s credible discovery. (英语一，2012, Text 3, Paragraph 3)

背景说明：科学研究的目标是“客观”，但是在科学研究中科研工作者常常受到诸多主观因素的影响。上文以“科学发现声明如何得到确证”来说明追求客观知识始终是科学界的目标。本段则开始具体讲述“取信过程”中的各个环节，各个人物角色在其中充当的作用，这期间包含发现者和科学界之间以及科学界内部之间科学理念的互动和对峙……

结构分析：

As a discovery claim works its way through the community, the interaction and

全句翻译：在发现声明通过科学界的逐级审查之时，所涉及到的与该科技相容或相抗的理念会相互作用、相互对抗，将个体的研究发现转变为科学界的可信发现。

语法分析：句子的主干是：The interaction and confrontation transforms an individual’s discovery claim into the community’s credible discovery. As a discovery claim works its way through the community是时间状语从句，从属连词as在从句中意为“当……时”（as还可引导原因状语从句，比较状语从句，方式状语从句，注意区分），其中，a discovery claim 是从句的主语，works是从句的谓语；its way是从句的宾语，through the community是从句的地点状语。the interaction and confrontation是主句的主语；between shared and competing beliefs是介词短语，作后置定语修饰主语the interaction and confrontation；about the science and the technology involved也是一个介词短语，作后置定语修饰名词beliefs；involved是过去分词，修饰the science and the technology。transforms是宾语，因为这时主语the interaction and confrontation是一个整体。an individual’s discovery claim是宾语；into the community’s credible discovery是宾语补足语，补充说明宾语的状态，“（由个体的研究发现）变为了科学界的可信发现”。
