One listener told us: It looks like English World is very active. Can you have more daily dialogues?

    有位听友说:英语世界好忙，可否多推出日常会话呢？

She says, for example, When you encounter a problem. How to express it in English.

    她说，好比当有了困难或问题时该怎么说？

In a situation like this, What would you say in Chinese, Wenjie?

    In Chinese we would say: 我有个难处，该怎么办呢？

    Mark, what do Americans usually say when they need help?美国人当需要帮助时，会说什么？

Well, we might say:

I'm in trouble    I've got trouble.  我遭遇了困难，问题。 

I have a problem.  又说，我有了麻烦

I need help. Can someone help me?  Or just simply, Help!  我需要帮助，谁能帮我呢？ 

 

Some people like to say: I'm at a total loss. That means I have no clue as to what to do.

    这意思是我不知该怎么做才好

Of course, as you say that, you would roll your eyes. "I'm at a total loss."

    说这话时还要加上表情才到位

 

Or, you can say: I'm in bad situation.  I've got a situation.

    我在很不好的境况中

I don't know what to do. Any ideas?

    我不知如何是好，有什么建议吗？

The Way We Talk 日常口语

In the West, asking for help is a very common.

    在西方，求帮助很普遍

Whether it's asking for directions,  or asking for a small favor,

    无论是问路或请人帮个小忙asking for a favor

All you need to do is open your mouth and ask.

    只要开口求问就行

Most people are kind and friendly, and are glad to offer help.

    多半的人都很友善仁慈，很愿意帮助

In a situation of asking for a small favor, here are some phrases to help you.

    底下一些词句可以帮助你来求帮助

 

You can say, "Would you…?"  Would you please… ?  Would you mind…?

    Would you…可否如何。。

Would you please open the door for me? 请你帮忙开个门好吗？

Would you mind closing the window for me? 能帮我关一下窗户吗/你介意关下窗户吗？

Would you help me move this chair? 能帮忙移一下这个椅子吗？

Excuse me, would you give me a hand? 对不起打扰，你能帮我个忙吗？

Would you do me a favor? 能请你帮个忙吗？

Would you tell me where I can find these books? 您能告诉我在哪儿能找到这些书吗？

 

And here are some others : 还有其他的像，

"Please…"  and  "May I…?"  (repeat)

 

Please give me a hand. 请帮我个忙。

Would you hand me my jacket, please. 请帮我拿下外套。

May I ask you a question? 我能问你个问题吗？

All right.  So, if someone asks you for help, how do you reply?

    好，那如果有人向你求帮助，你会如何回答

You can say:  Of course. Certainly.  当然了

With pleasure. 很乐意帮忙

Or, you can say: I’m sorry. I’m busy now. 也可以说，对不起，我现在正忙着。

If you want to politely say no, you can say: 如果你要很礼貌的拒绝，可以这么说：

I’m glad to, but I’m afraid I don’t have the time. 我很乐意帮忙，但我恐怕没时间。

    Not at all.

Here，In the case of "Would you mind…?" The answer will be "No, I don't mind."

    当有人问，Would you mind时，回答要说，No, 意思是 我不介意

Would you mind mailing this letter for me?

    Not at all.

I wonder if you could lend me your pen?

    Sure. Of course

I hope I’m not bothering you.

    No, you are fine.

I hope that will not cause you too much trouble.

    No trouble at all.

I really appreciate your help.

    Don't mention it.

I don’t want to put you to any trouble.

No trouble at all.  I’d be glad to help.

Everyone needs help from time to time. There's no question about it.

    每人偶不偶时都需要人的帮助

At times, We all face trouble and problems, and we become worried and feel helpless.

    有时候，当我们遭遇困难问题，我们觉得烦恼无助

We are at a loss, and don't know what to do.

    我们不知要如何才好

Where do we get help from?

    要从哪儿得帮助呢

We need to find the right person who can offer real help to us.

    我们需要找对的人才能有实际的帮助

They can be doctors, teachers, parents, police… etc.

    可以是医生，老师，父母，公安等

But beside that, the Bible tells us we can ask God for help.

    但除了这些人之外，圣经说，我们可以向神求帮助

God is the Creator of everything. He is good and wise and powerful.

    祂是创造一切的主，祂是美善大能的

And most important, He loves us, each and everyone of us.

    而最可贵的，是祂爱我们每一位

He will never forsake or abandon us.

    祂绝对不会丢弃遗弃我们不顾

Jesus, our Savior knows our reality.

    耶稣我们救主知道我们的本体

He has been through weakness and testing.

    祂曾经也有软弱和受试炼的时候

But Jesus didn't sin, and therefore He can offer real help to our problem.

    但耶稣没有犯罪，也因此能够给我们最真实的帮助
