First of all, I would like to thank the Hall of Fame for giving me this great honor. Your recognition has made tonight a most memorable moment for me. Although because my career ended too soon, for me I treasure each and every moment. I am grateful for my time on the court, and for your recognition tonight.

As you know I am from China, and my basketball journey began there.

众所周知，我来自中国，我的职业生涯从那里开始。

My parents were basketball players back in the 1970s. I heard so many stories about them, as players and most importantly as good people. I am so fortunate to be your son. The gift I had from you was not only the height, but the way you taught me how to think and how to make decisions，of course, and my soft touch on the free throw line. That is why I had about 10,000 free throws less than Shaq.

我的父母是70年代的篮球运动员。我听说了很多关于他们的故事，关于如何打球，更重要的是，如何做个好人。我非常有幸能成为他们的儿子。父母赐予我的不仅有身高，还有很多，他们教我如何思考，如何做决定，当然还有我在罚球线上的良好手感。这也是为什么我和奥尼尔相比，我的罚球要少大约一万个。

My wife Li is here tonight. We met when we were high school age. You know how much you mean to me. Thank you to be my life partner. Our lovely daughter Amy is a treasure to both of us. We all wish she could be here, but because she is in her first week of school. And she has to live with the consequences when she chose soccer over basketball. Yeah, I will fix that. I will fix that. 

我的妻子叶莉今天也在现场。我们在高中时期就认识了，你知道你对我有多重要。谢谢你能成为我一生的伴侣。我们可爱的女儿Amy是我们共同的珍宝。我们都希望她今天也能来到这里，但是很可惜现在是她开学第一周。例外，她选择了足球而非篮球，她就必须要承担这一结果。对，我会处理好这个问题的。

My basketball journey began on the back of a coach Li Zhangmin’s bicycle when he gave me a ride to my very first basketball practice. I would like to congratulate you for a very successful and very long career because you will retire at the end of this year. Thank you for your work and your efforts. So many kids including myself have benefited from you.

​我的篮球之路是从我的教练李章明先生的自行车后座上开始的，他骑车载着我去上了第一节篮球课。今年他即将退休，我要祝贺他拥有如此成功而漫长的教练生涯，无数的孩子，也包括我自己，都因为你而受益匪浅。

Coach Li Qiuping you were my coach at the Shanghai Sharks. You led us to the first and probably the only CBA championship we have so far before I went to NBA. You gave up so much and sacrificed so much in that year and those years even at the time when you lost your wife in a battle of cancer. Thank you for that, for never gave us up. 

李秋平教练是我在上海大鲨鱼队的主教练。你带领着我们问鼎CBA冠军，那是我们第一个也是到目前为止唯一一个冠军，随后我就来到了NBA。在那些年里，你付出了太多，牺牲了太多，即使是你的妻子因癌症而去世的那段时间。谢谢你，谢谢你从没放弃我们。 

I want to thank the city of Shanghai, the Shanghai Sharks and the CBA league that they did everything they could to prepare me. They raised me, trained me and helped me to be ready for the next challenge in my life.

我还要感谢上海，感谢上海大鲨鱼俱乐部，感谢CBA联盟，为我登陆NBA做好了各种准备。他们养育了我，训练了我，帮助我去面对人生的下一个挑战。

There is an old saying in China that if the mirror is made of bronze, one can dress properly; if the mirror is history, one can predict ups and downs; if the mirror is people, one can reflect on one’s own weakness and strength. I would like to take a moment to mention a few mirrors in my life.

中国有句老话叫做“以铜为镜，可以正衣冠; 以史为镜，可以知兴替; 以人为镜，可以明得失。”我想花一点时间谈谈我人生中的几面镜子。

First, I'd like to mention Mr. Mou Zuoyun. He was a Chinese basketball legend. Over 80 years ago, Mr. Mou came here to Springfield to study basketball. After that, he went back to China and dedicated his life to Chinese basketball. Today, the CBA Championship Cup is named after him. This cup became the life goal that every CBA player can dream of.

首先是中国篮球传奇牟作云先生。他是中国篮球史上的传奇人物。80年之前，牟先生来到斯普林菲尔德学习篮球，然后回到了中国，为中国篮球事业奉献了一生。如今，CBA冠军的奖杯名字就是以他的名字命名的，这个奖杯是每一个CBA球员梦寐以求的荣誉。

I am not the first Chinese man to play in the NBA. That honor belongs to Wang Zhizhi. He was a pioneer for all future Chinese players who dream of coming to the NBA. He cleared the road for us and made so many sacrifices. I learned so much from him. Although he cannot be here today, I want to thank him.

我并不是第一个登陆NBA的中国人。这一荣誉属于王治郅。他是一个开拓者，为后来所有梦想登陆NBA的中国球员扫清了道路，做出了卓越的贡献。我从他身上学到了很多。尽管他今天不能来到现场，但是我想向他表示感谢。

​Many people know the story that began when the Rockets drafted me in 2002. But not many people know how much effort the Rockets put in before I arrived and throughout my career. Thank you to Les Alexander, Michael Goldberg, Carroll Dawson, Tad Pown, Daryl Morey and Keith Jones for making me feel at home in Houston.

很多人认识我是从2002年开始，那一年火箭队在NBA选秀中选中了我。但是很少有人知道在我来美国之前以及随后我整个的职业生涯中，火箭队做出了很多努力。谢谢老板亚历山大、戈尔伯格、总经理道森、CEO布朗、总经理莫雷和琼斯。是你们让我在休斯敦感受到家的温暖。

When I arrived on my first day, Steve Francis gave me a strong high five and a huge hug to welcome me. Steve has been the perfect big brother to me ever since that day. Cuttino Mobley invited me to his home for something called “soul food.” But please excuse me for my beginning English back then that I heard it sound like salty food which confused me a little bit. Thank you to Steve, Cuttino and everyone on my early Rockets teams for making me feel so welcome.

Rudy Tomjanovich is famous for saying, “Never underestimate the heart of a champion.” Rudy has demonstrated this not only on the court, but off the court too, especially in his battle with cancer. Rudy, you have inspired me to be better that I can be.

鲁迪-汤姆贾诺维奇教练曾说过“永远不要低估冠军之心”，无论在篮球场上还是场外，他都充分地诠释了这句话，尤其是在他与癌症抗争的过程中。鲁迪，你一直激励我，让我成为更好的自己。

When Jeff Van Gundy arrived with Patrick Ewing and Tom Thibodeau, that coaching staff really turned us into a tough defensive team, like he always does. With T-Mac, Shane Battier, Rafer Alston, we became a talented young team, especially with Dikembe Mutombo. That team was not only competitive, but a team with a brotherhood.

当杰夫-范甘迪以及他的教练组(包括尤因、锡伯杜)来到球队后，你们把火箭队打造成一支防守强队。同时球队还有麦迪、巴蒂尔以及阿尔斯通，我们组成了一支很有天赋的年轻队伍，特别是还有迪坎贝(穆大叔)。这支球队不仅富有战斗力，而且大家亲如兄弟。

I always remember Coach Van Gundy said once that, “The best chance also could be your last.” That is true in basketball and in life.

我一直记得范甘迪教练说过的一句话：“最好的机会可能也是最后的机会。”这句话不仅适用于篮球，也适用于人生。

My last NBA coach was Rick Adelman. He helped us develop so many talented players like Carl Landry, Luis Scola and Aaron Brooks. We had a great run in 2008-2009 seasons, but unfortunately my injury cut things short and ended my time with the Rockets too soon. I will always remember my time spent with the Houston Rockets as some of the best time in my life.

我的最后一位NBA教练是阿德尔曼。他培养了很多天赋出众的球员，像卡尔-兰德里、路易斯-斯科拉以及阿隆-布鲁克斯。08-09赛季我们运作得非常棒，但是很不幸我的脚受伤了，使得球队没能走得更远，而我也过早地结束了在火箭队的生涯。我会一直记得自己在火箭队的日子，因为那是我人生中最美好的时光。

As a basketball player, I was one of the most blessed players on the planet. I played against some of the best athletes in the world.

作为一名篮球运动员，我是世界上最幸运的球员之一，因为我曾和最优秀的球员打过球。

A great athlete not only has great teammates, but also great opponents. Great opponents push us forward. Great opponents like Shaquille O’Neal. Shaq, every game we played reminded me of the old saying, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” Thank you for that.

一个伟大的运动员不仅有伟大的队友，还要有伟大的对手。伟大的对手能激励你前进，例如沙克-奥尼尔。和你的比赛让我想起那句老话，“那些杀不死你的，会让你变得更强大”。谢谢你给我的启发。

I consider Houston my second home, so I want to say something to the people of Houston. You stood by me in good and bad times. You gave me strength to move forward. I will always consider you my family. I am a Texan and a Houston Rocket for life.

我把休斯敦当成自己的第二故乡，所以我想对休斯敦人民说几句。不论顺境还是逆境，你们一直都支持我。你们给了我前进的动力。我会永远把你们当作我的家人。这辈子我都会记得自己是一个德克萨斯人，是一个休斯敦人。

The game has inspired billions of people around the world. As one of them, I will do my part to continue to help grow the great game of basketball, and we all look forward to seeing the stars of tomorrow emerge and shine.
