         每当瓢虫落在孩子们的身上时便会唱"Ladybug, ladybug"。瓢虫驻足爬行，孩子们低声吟唱 （chant）"Ladybug Ladybug fly away home"。黑点红底的瓢虫是英国夏季最常见的昆虫，不过黄色的很少见。当地称为 'ladybirds'。

         瓢虫会降低虫害（pest）灾情是农民常识，按传统焚烧秸秆前则为助瓢虫飞离高声喝唱

“火药阴谋”作案人员，从左向右依次为Thomas Bates, Robert Wintour, Christopher Wright, John Wright, Thomas Percy, Guy Fawkes, Robert Catesby and Thomas Wintour。

       估计是Ladybird一词变为Ladybug，美国版的歌词同Firebug关联在一起了，意思是纵火犯（ an arsonist 或pyromaniac）。 1865年出版物中使用ladybug一词，有人推测（ speculation ）同歌词源于1666年的伦敦大火事件。
