謄像法是从历代肖像画家总结出来的比较科学的度量人物面部方法，其中四股尺就显然是有明清时期受有西洋画传来影响，它与西画以十字衡量面部方法相类似，不过四股尺只到印堂为止，这个度量方法被认为是非常准确的。

丙 佛菩萨

按佛典说，佛是释教之主，就是释迦牟尼，菩萨就是梵语菩提萨埵的简称，菩提可解释为觉醒，萨埵可解释为聚生，意谓既能自觉本性，又能普度众生，菩萨的地位仅次于佛。

中国画法，最早人东汉开时，当时从印度输入了佛教，随着佛画的开始，菩萨也就成为宗教画广泛的题材。唐宋以前的人物画家，大部都是画佛像及道释鬼神的名手。

从造型来看，佛、菩萨、观音等面部形象的差别不是很多，只不过如观音面部的造型接近女性而已。单从佛、菩萨面部的外轮廓造型来看，又都是面如满月和两耳垂肩，也就是圆形的面庞，对佛像菩萨面部总的要求，无论是绘画或雕塑，都是一样的。

丁 罗汉、应真、山鬼

罗汉又称阿罗汉，是指比丘（苦修的僧人）修行得道的、地位仅次于菩萨。

应真也是得道的僧人，地位仅次于罗汉。

山鬼就是供山神驱使的走卒。

永乐宫三清殿壁画中的人物如玉皇、星宿、仙君、力士、甲卒、玉女等，鼻的造型有肥鼻、瘦鼻、扁鼻、塌鼻、正面、侧面、露鼻孔、藏鼻孔、翻鼻孔，更有如雷部诸神的鼻子，将兽类鼻子加以人化，但主要都是从生活中真人的鼻子给予典型化的结果。
