初中英语教学设计(现在进行时)

Topic 2 He is playing soccer on the playground.

Section A

Wu Pingping

Section A needs 1 period.

The main activities are 1, 2a and 3.

Ⅰ. Aims and demands

1. (1) Learn the names of school buildings:

playground ,  lab, computer room, dining hall, gym, classroom building, swimming pool, dormitory

(2) Learn other new words:

sleep,  clean, make, card, soon, dance, physics

2. Learn the present continuous tense.

—What is Maria doing now?

—She is reading in the library.

—What are you doing?

—I’m making cards.

Ⅱ. Teaching aids

Tape recorder/multi-media computer projector

Ⅲ. Five-finger Teaching Plan

Step 1   Review (time:8m)

1. Talent show.(Let the students enjoy English)

2. Ask two students to introduce a day of their own or their parents’ .

3. Ask and answer with some students to review the important sentences in Topic1 and lead to the new words

(Show pictures to teach the new words.)

T: DO you like play basketball?

S1: Yes, I do.

T: How often do you play basketball?

S1: Once a week.

T: Where do you often play basketball?

S1: On the playground.(Help the student answer lf necessary.)

T:Yes ,we play soccer on the playgroud. Read after me .Playground.

(Teach the new word playground)

Teach the other new words in the same way.(Learn the new while reviewing the old)

 

Step 2   Presentation (time:10m)

 

1. Let the students listen to the tape, and finish 1.

T: Please listen to 1 and repeat it. Then match the places with the right pictures.

Check the answers with students.

(consolidate the new words)

2. The teacher pretends to sleep .At the same time, ask the students.

Example:

T: What am I doing now?

Ss:  You are sleeping. (Help the students answer if necessary.)

Teach the new word sleep.

Ask a student to come to the front and pretend to clean the classroom. At the same time, ask the students.

T: What is he doing at the moment?

Ss: He is cleaning the classroom.(Give the students a hand)

Teach the two phrases.

  Show a picture in which there is a boy swimming, then ask and answer between the teacher and the students

T: What is he doing at the moment?

Ss: He is swimming.

Show another picture in which two children riding a bike

  T: What are they doing?

  S: They are riding a bike.

Show more pictures and practice similar dialogs. First practice together, then in groups, then in pairs.

(develop situational resources,make students interested in the knowledge they are learning.)

 

5. Let the students listen to 2a and answer the questions.

(1)What is Maria doing?

(2)What is Kangkang doing?

(3)Is Wang Wei cleaning the dormitory?

Check the answers with the students after listening to the tape.

(Practice students’listening)

6. Listen to 2a again and finish 2b.

T: Let’s listen to 2a again. And fill out the form in 2b. Begin!

. (Check the answers)

T:  Who wants to share your answers with us?

S1 Maria…

S2 Kangkang…

(Practice students’listening)

 

Step 3   Consolidation (time:6m)

1. (Play2a for the students to repeat).

T: Please listen to the tape and follow it. Pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.

(Play the tape)

2. Ask the students to practice the dialog in pairs.

T: Read the dialog with your partner. I will ask several groups to act it out. Begin!

3. Ask several pairs to act 2a out.

T: Who wants to act your dialog out?

T: Very good! Anyone else?

(Practice students’oral English and encourage them put what they learned into use)

Step 4  Practice  (time :8m)

 

1. Let the students listen to 3 and answer some questions.

T:  Please listen to 3 and answer me some questions.

     (1)Is Jane doing her homework?

(2)Is Jane watching TV?

(3)Is Michael playing basketball?

   (4) What’s he doing?

Check the answers.

2. Let the students listen to 3 and repeat it, then practice in pairs, and then act it out.

3.  Let the students   ask and answer in pairs looking at the pictures in 4

 Finish4.

S1  Where is she?

S2  She is in the gym.

S1:   Is she singing?

S2  No, she isn’t.

S1  What’s she doing?

S2  She’s dancing.

(Practice makes perfect.)

Step 5   Project   ( time: 7m)

1. Show a picture and ask the students to write as many sentences as they can, using the present continuous tense.

(Practice students’writing)

2. Ask some students to perform actions and let the students guess what he/she is doing.

T:   Boys and girls, let’s look and guess.

Example:

T: What is A doing?(A tells the teacher what he/she is doing.)

S1: Is he/she…

T: Yes, he/she is.

 No, he /she isn’t.

(Practice general questions)

                             Summary   (time: 6m)

1.    Sum up the usage of the present continuous tense with the students.

2.    Homework: Ask students to draw some pictures of their life and describe them using the present continuous tense.
