China's first female astronaut Liu Yan will be among the crew launching on the country's first manned docking mission tomorrow afternoon.  

The 13-day mission will see the astronauts dock with the Tiangong-1, a space laboratory module that was launched last September and is now orbiting Earth.

On board, Major Liu will have her own private bedroom, according to the Chinese state media, and will be allowed an extra ration of water for cleaning.

Major Liu, 34, was named a hero in 2003 for calmly landing a jet fighter after its right engine was crippled by a bird strike.

China is only the third nation, after Russia and the United States, to independently launch humans to space. The country is also expecting to be the second nation to put a man on the moon by 2024.
